That completes this picture! The only graduate to receive a doctorate degree to my knowledge is Sidney Thomas McDaniel, PHD-Florida State University. He is a published author and is on staff at Mississippi State University.
To the Best of our knowledge, this was the largest graduation Class to date in 1958 for Forrest City.

Litho by Uncle Charlie N.Haven (ca.1960)

This litho was done of the courthouse built in 1897 and torn down in the 1960's. He had been in local politics as city and county official from the 1930's. His name is Uncle Charles N. Haven.
And now a picture from the past, 1957 to be exact, looking North from Hwy 70 on Hwy 1 towards Wynne. Note the 55' Ford coming at you, could be me as this is what we were driving back then! Second picture is looking East on Highway 70 near the Oldsmobile-Chevrolet dealer.

Campbell elected to Hall
Prep Football
Published: January 18, 2008-Updated August 20,2008
Don Campbell, Forrest City High School Class 1958, established himself as one of Arkansas’ best high school football coaches during a career that included 257 victories, 16 conference championships and two state titles. Now Campbell will take his place among the state’s coaching greats in all sports. Campbell has been elected to the Arkansas High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The former Wynne, Corning and Sheridan head football coach was notified of his selection by a letter he received on Thursday. “It’s an honor, and I’m overwhelmed at how all these things have happened to me,” Campbell said. “To me, if you’re a young coach and you don’t know a lot, that’s where I was. It’s been a heck of a 39 years and being selected to this is icing on the cake. I can’t tell you how humbled and lucky and blessed I’ve been.” Campbell coached for 39 years, eight in junior high and 31 as a high school head coach. He spent 10 years as head coach at Corning, five at Sheridan and the last 16 at Wynne, where his teams won state championships in 2001 and 2004. When he retired last season, Campbell ranked sixth all-time among Arkansas high school football coaches in victories. He finished his career with a 257-98-6 record. Active coaches are not eligible for the AHSCA Hall of Fame. Campbell retired in January 2007, making this year the first he could be selected for the Hall of Fame. Campbell’s teams were known for their precise execution of his Diamond-T offense. The system piled up rushing yards and victories everywhere Campbell went. Campbell closed his career by guiding the East All-Stars to a 23-13 victory over the West in the AHSCA All-Star Game last June. “Every place I’ve been, it seemed like things worked out for me,” Campbell said. “It worked out when I was at Sheridan and Wynne and Corning. I’ve been awful lucky. I’ve always had kids who will play for me and do what I ask them to do.
And now our Forrest City Schools coaching staff. The football team won District in 1957 and were 11 wins, 1 loss, and no ties. In 1958 they were undefeated under Coach DeVazier, who looked as good in 1988 as in this picture, no kidding! Unknown is Walter Prewitt!Found that Coach Devazier's son Jimbo is at the throttle in a powerful Jonesboro Hurricane head coaching position for the seventh year in 2005.
History for Jim Devazier and Ed Henderson, two coaches at Forrest City High School in the 50's and 60's.
The Coach Ed Henderson and Coach Jim Devazier Endowment was announced at the Forrest City High School Hall of Fame Banquet in the Fall of 2004. As a surprise, family members and former coaches and players established this endowment to show appreciation for all the years these two men gave of themselves to make a difference in the lives of so many. As an incentive to others, one donor has agreed to match any and all contributions to this endowment. These two donations will then be matched by the Walton Foundation's PARTNERS program. This is truly an excellent example of what this community foundation stands for!
For more information on this, or any other endowment, please contact any board member with the St. Francis County Community Foundation or call Sonya Fletcher (Executive Director) at (870)630-2400.
History for Max Graham, one of coaches at Forrest City High School
JULY 2006:Coaches, officials enshrine 11
BY JEFF HALPERN The Sentinel-Record-Hot Springs,Arkansas
Six coaches and five officials were inducted into the Arkansas High School Coaches Association/Arkansas Officials Association Hall of Fame Friday night at Horner Hall in Hot Springs Convention Center. Coaches honored were Ronnie Clark of Berryville, the late Max Graham of Carlisle, Barbara Gilliam-Harris of Portland, Eddie Jackson of Camden, Bill Te rwilliger of West Memphis and Asive Thomas of Pine Bluff.Graham led Benton to the 1977 Class 4A championship, handing Hot Springs its only loss after the Trojans reached the state finals the previous year. Doug Graham, Nashville assistant superintendent, accepted in memory of his father. A Forrest City assistant from 1956-61, Graham won two conference titles at Gillett, his teams reeling off 16 straight victories and holding 12 consecutive opponents without a touchdown. He won a state championship and reached the finals a second time at Stuttgart. Graham earned three coach-ofthe-year awards in 1977 as Benton, with future college stars Jeff Goff (Arkansas) and Rick Spivey (Arkansas State), won the state title. At Stuttgart (1972) and Benton (1978), he became the first man to coach both squads in the All-Star game. Graham finished his coaching career at Bald Knob and served as Beebe’s principal from 1981-90.
