ROGERS FAMILY CEMETERY

or

HARDIN and ROGERS GRAVES

Located Section 35 Township 17 South Range 16 West

Union County, Arkansas

Traveling west from El Dorado on Hwy. 82, go to N. Wyatt Drive (aka Hwy. 335).

Turn right onto Hwy. 335, going northeast. At Mt. Holly Road, turn right going east back

toward El Dorado.....within a mile the graves were located off the south side of the road

in a pasture.  Today there is a subdivision there.  These are approximate directions.

Once you turn onto Mt. Holly Rd, you should see Tree Line Dr., left on the south side of

Mt. Holly Rd.; then Kansas Ave., left on the south side, and Agnes Road on the north side of

Mt. Holly Rd.

Located somewhere between Tree Line Drive & vicinity of Kansas Avenue is the subdivision.

In November 1994, when canvassed by Violet M. & Ralph G. Weldon, only

two markers remained. This was private land & the graves were located out

in a pasture beneath a big Oak Tree.  Since then, a subdivision has been built and any

signs of this old family cemetery have disappeared.  One descendant of the family,

Ramona Harrison of Magnolia, in 2003-04, went to take pictures and found a subdivision

covering the area. She drove around & did manage to find a tombstone for Destie Rogers

Hardin, in a flowerbed in the front yard of one of the houses.

(No info on what became of the tombstone since then(ca 2003-04 ) or what became

of Elisha Rogers' tombstone.    jcsh432@gmail.com

*Note: As of October 2011

HANK ROGERS posted the following info concerning this cemetery.

“I now have a short video of this cemetery on youtube.

Simply search for Rogers Family Cemetery, El Dorado, AR.”

The Rogers Family Cemetery is located just west of El Dorado, Union Co., AR, about

1/2 mile south of Highway 82 in what once was a pasture known as the "Goodwin Place,"

(a bit southeast of the original Elisha Rogers homestead),

but is now a subdivision called Meadow Hills Estates.

At the time of the subdivision (1997 or so), only one marker was found,

that of Destie Rogers Hardin.

It was surrounded by a flower bed/rock garden when a home was built behind it.

The family is nice enough to allow visits, but  please respect them by calling ahead.

Please contact me (Hank Rogers) for his phone number.
