Associated with New London Baptist Church. Located Northeast of
Strong, Union County, Arkansas.
Canvassed this cemetery, October
15, 2003. Some of the names are
from an old cemetery canvass
done back in the late '70's, but was helpful in filling in some of the
blanks where stones were broken or
had disappeared. This is a
large, well maintained cemetery, with a chain link fence, covering about
3 acres, but many, many graves are probably unmarked or the markers have
long since disappeared.
One item of interest about this cemetery; one family (the
Thompsons), are buried on a mound
elevating
it above the rest of the cemetery. This one is very evident, although in the
back corners, there appears
to be a couple of other raised mounds.

* One unique thing I found in this old cemetery; on 3 of the
4 corners the ground is sort of mounded
up & each one is a family plot. One very obvious mound
is the “Thompson Family mound”
The first time I was there , there were hardly any buried
away from
the corners & the large middle area was pretty
open. *On my 2011 visit I was rather
sad to see
all the woods across the road & nearby, had been
strip-cut, as you can see in the photo below.
* The oldest burials are found in the 4
corners.
