*D/of Morris D. & Sallie J. Fennell.

*Please note the above/ below parents info on Willie Emma Harris:

I was contacted by a person stating Willa Emma’s parents were not those listed above;

I have checked my records & I actually have a picture of her tombstone, taken in 2006

which I have submitted for posting. *The same tombstone was still standing Oct 2011.

* Researcher Yolonda Fennell Staten asserts John Hawkins Fennell & Rachel Goff

are the parents.

*Siblings of Willie Emma’s: Eddie Mae 1880; Ike Aaron 1889-1950….

These are not posted since I did not find them when I did my survey,

plus they are given by Ms. Staten as being the children of John Hawkins Fennell &

Rachel Goff. Buried at Scotland Cemetery. The only "Fennell" from this group, that I have

found, is Sallie Johnson Fennell. Ms. Staten did have proof that her information was correct

(death certificate). Someone else had erected this headstone & mistakenly gave the names

of the wrong parents. * I did not find their graves in 2011 either.

* I have tried to fill in some dates or provide more than the year if that was all that was given. There are a set of books referred to as the “Arkansas Death Indexes 1914-1950”. A set of these books can be found in most libraries & or genealogy societies here in Arkansas & they are also posted online at Ancestry.com, if you happen to have an account there. The books give the person’s name, county they died in and the date. If someone died during this time frame, & their name is not found, then you cannot obtain a death certificate for them. Arkansas started keeping birth / death statistics in 1914. Unfortunately, it was not enforced until the 1940’s. It all depended on whether, a doctor, the family, or a mortuary bothered to register the death with the state and since many occurred at home without a doctor in attendance, many went unregistered.
