Albert Lee Harrison, 55, of El Dorado, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 23,
2007, at Life Touch Hospice. Born on Oct. 20, 1952, in El Dorado, he
was the son of the late Alfred Casey Harrison, Sr. and Annie Lou
(Ainsworth) Harrison.
Mr. Harrison was a carpenter; co-owner and operator of B&H
Construction; a member of the NRA and of the Baptist faith.

and Casey Harrison and her fiancé, Donald, of Mount Holly; three
brothers, Jimmy Harrison of Huttig, Freddy Harrison and his wife,

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Boyd Oliver and Velma

Born Dec. 25, 1922, in Coffeeville, Texas, to Richard Hughes Cunliffe
and Elizabeth C. Dennard Cunliffe, she was a retired secretary for
American Supply and a member of Second Baptist Church where she was
very active in church work.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald D. Clark;
and son-in-law, Robert N. Ray.

grandsons, Clarke E. Ray of Washington, DC and Michael Ray and his wife

She was born Oct. 14, 1923, in El Dorado, to Edward and Mae Confer.
Helen was a resident of the Brazosport, Texas, area for 56 years,
member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and retired from BISD in 2004 after
16 years of service. She was a loving wife, fantastic mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She always gave to others
before herself.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Franklin “Tank”
Faulkner; parents; sister, Jerry Drury; and brother, Harry Confer.

Mr. Moss passed away Dec. 24, 2007, at his home in Haynesville, La.,
after a brief illness.

He was born in Junction City, to Carrie and Archie Moss on Dec. 2,
1939.
He served his country for three years as a signalman in the United
States Navy. He retired from David Wade Correctional Center after 20
years of service and loved to fish, hunt, travel and spend time with
his family, but most of all he loved watching Kyle and Ryan play ball.
For more than 30 years, he was an avid fan of Haynesville Golden
Tornado football.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two half-brothers, one
half-sister, two sisters, and seven brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Betty Moss; daughters, Becky
Moss, Brenda Acklin and husband, Dave, all of Haynesville, Jamie
Schmidt and husband, Gary, of El Cajon, Calif.; a sister, Pat Hicks of
Haynesville; three grandsons, Kyle and Ryan Acklin of Haynesville, and
Matthew Acklin of Beaumont, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Hicks, Tracy Moss, Rodney Moss,
Tony Taylor, Dan Acklin and Rocky Daniels. Honoraries will be Kyle
Acklin, Ryan Acklin, Robert Reeder, Mark Furlow, J.D. Moss, Paul Moss,

was a retired owner of Phillips Muffler Shop.

Born July 25, 1919, in Farmerville, La., she was the daughter of Marvin
Daniel Cameron and Margaret Evelyn (Futch) Cameron. She was a clerk for
Sterling’s Department Store in El Dorado and RO-MAR’s Department Store
in Junction City and a member of First Assembly of God. She was a
loving mother of three daughters, a great cook and enjoyed sewing and
gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Leighton Wilkinson; and
her parents.

Bobby Joe, of El Dorado, Margaret McConathy and her husband, Denny, of

Mr. Bolling was a native of Kilgore and lived in several Texas cities

independent consultant with G.A. Wright of Denver, Colo., where he
traveled all over the United States for the past 11 years. He was a
member of the Danville Masonic Lodge No. 101 A.F. & A.M of Kilgore,
Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Leon Bolling and
Gracie Cates Bolling; brother, L.J. Bolling; and his grandson, Jacob

Homer Henry Garner, 95, of Rome, Ga., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 27,
2007, in a Rome Health Care facility.
He was born in Camden on Sept. 28, 1912, the son of the late Jesse Dee
Garner and Ella Jane Moore Garner. Mr. Garner had been a resident of
Floyd County, Ga., since 2001. He retired as chief fire dispatcher with
the Orange County, Calif., Fire Department. Mr. Garner was a member of
the Two Bayou Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years in April 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Michael H. Garner Sr. and his wife,
Diane, of Rome and Terry L. Garner and his wife, Donna, of Tucson,
Ariz.; five grandchildren, Michael and Emily Garner of Henderson, Nev.,

Rachel was born on Sept. 12, 1941, in Atlanta, Texas, the daughter of

and founding member of Faith Baptist Church. She was active with arts
and crafts and made numerous wedding cakes for couples in the local
area.

White.

being employed by Col. Barton and Barton Enterprises, where she
retired.
Cacilia was an artist and worked in oils. Her paintings are scattered
from Mexico to the United States and across Europe. S
She was an avid sportswoman and enjoyed the outdoors with boating and
water-skiing being her favorite.

David Wayne Johnson, 35, of Junction City, passed away Monday, Dec. 31,
2007, of natural causes.
Born Feb. 24, 1972, in El Dorado, he was the son of Randy and Kathy
Johnson. After graduating from Old Union High School, David continued
working in the family business. David also worked in a Work Release
Program for the city of El Dorado. David was a reserve police officer
for the El Dorado Police Department and the Union County Sheriff’s
Office. David managed the city auditorium and was responsible for many
of the entertainment groups that performed in El Dorado. In his most
recent years, David worked in the amusement and entertainment business
as co-owner of Johnson Bros. Amusement Co.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Karen McMurtry.
Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Cynthia Glover Johnson of
Junction City; one daughter, Madison Danielle Johnson of Junction City;

Civic Club and active with the Pope County Farmers Market, and was a
member of the London First Baptist Church.

Thomas L. “Fuzzy” Griffin, 89, of Friendswood, Texas, and formerly of
El Dorado, passed away Dec. 29, 2007, after a long battle with
dementia.
He was born Sept. 25, 1918, in El Dorado to Morgan and Ruth Griffin and
was raised in El Dorado, graduating from El Dorado High School and the
University of Arkansas.
He was a 50-year member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and was initiate
number 1,000 of the XI chapter at Arkansas. It was at the University of
Arkansas that he met his wife “Kappy.” They were married in 1948 and
were married 59 years at his death.
A 50-year member of the El Dorado Masonic Lodge, he was also a member
of the El Dorado Lion’s Club and was named “Lion of the Year” in 1964,
and served as president in 1967. He was a life-long member of the First
United Methodist Church in El Dorado and a member of the Francis Asbury
Sunday School class. He served his country in World War II and retired
as a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force Reserves. He was employed for
31 years by American Oil Co. in El Dorado and Texas City, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Griffin.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn “Kappy” Griffin; and one son,
Thomas Lee Griffin Jr., both of Friendswood, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today in Arlington Memorial

Evelyn Perkins, 89, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at
Medical Center of South Arkansas.
Born March 25, 1918, at Poplar Bluff, Mo., she was the daughter of John
William Fleming and Bertha Kraft Fleming.
She was a homemaker until her children completed school and later
joined her husband at El Dorado Pharmacy as bookkeeper and
“jack-of-all-trades.” She was a member of First Baptist Church; member
of Prime-Timers and a Sunday School teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Sherwood Perkins;
a brother, Willis Fleming; and sister, Marie Pfeiffer.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Perk; a daughter, Sherry
Bartley of Little Rock; a grandson, Joseph Kirby Mahony III, of Little
Rock; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan Mahony, Alex Mahony and
Joseph Kirby Mahony IV.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Arlington
Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors with Dr.
Lynn Worthen officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Magnolia, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, in the Willis-Knighton Medical
Center in Shreveport, La.
Survivors include three sisters, Yvonne James of Las Vegas, Beverly
Gail Ellis of Cullen, and Loretta Wheeler of Magnolia.

Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Carroll was born in Winnsboro, La., in 1924 and passed away Jan.
3, 2008, at Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado.
Mrs. Carroll loved to spend time with her family, work in her garden,
and to travel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Carroll
and grandchildren, Tom Cruse and Denny Roark.
Survivors include her children, Tommy Cruse and wife, Sharon, Joyce
Hornsby and husband, David, Donna Cagle and husband, Nick;
grandchildren, Jay Cruse, Mary Cruse, Tim Cagle, Darryl Cagle, Gary
Roark; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Tina Baird and husband,
Harmon, Mary Jean Hatten and husband, Lloyd, Carolyn Nelson and
husband, Ray, and Linda Dear and husband, Buck; three brothers, R. Z.

Jessie “Doug” Couch, 83, of Marysville, passed away, Friday, Jan. 4,
2008, at Oak Ridge Nursing Home.
Born Aug. 23, 1924, in Hot Springs, he was the son of the late Jessie
Couch and Leona (White) Couch.
Doug was a World War II Army veteran; the former manager for Griffing
Railway Repair; a Shriner; a 32nd degree Mason and an avid fisherman
and member of Marysville United Methodist Church.
Preced-ing him in death are his parents; three brothers, Melvin, Bill,
and Delbert Couch; a sister, Joy Faye Winget.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Morene (Smith) Couch of
Marysville; two sons, Barry Couch and his
wife, Judy, of El Dorado, Scott Couch of Marysville; two step-brothers,
Wayne Cole and his wife, Gail, of El Dorado, John Cole of Homer, La.;
very special sisters-in-law and a host of nephews and nieces.

Nov. 2, 1913 to James Thomas Winters and Ollie Lucinda Harrison
Winters.
She is survived by a son, Robert Graham Nettles Jr.; a daughter, Ganata
Jo Nettles; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Graham
Nettles Sr.; and two grandchildren, Russell Robert Nettles and Michael
Guy Nettles.
