Columbus Harrison Gray Family

This a scanned copy of a letter that is in my possession. A little
background here, This letter was written by Columbus Harrison Gray to
his father Esquire Thomas Gray., of Union Co. Ark. Columbus Gray was
born 1833, in Fla. the son of Thomas Gray . b. 25 Aug 1800, in Ga. mar.
Temperance Koursey. Columbus Gray was a Sgt. in the Civil War, and the
letter is written after the battle at Praire Grove. Ark. Columbus
Gray's brother, James Addison Gray, who was killed in this battle, was
married to Georgie Mary Bradley, who was pregrant with their 3rd child
at this time.
Temperance Gray died, 07 Feb. 1845, and Esq. Thomas Gray married Martha
Jane Adaline Norris, who was b. 15 Aug, 1823 in Ga. Her father was
James I. Norris b.02-Jan 1775 in Rowan Co. N.C. and died 28 Oct. 1873
in Union Co. Ark, b. Norris Cemt. Union Co. Ark. Her mother was Sarah
Partick b. 1776 died 12 Aug 1852.
Martha Jane Norris, had a brother named James McKenzie Norris b. 06 May
1809, Ga. mar. Jane R. Odum b. 15 Mar. 1821 Ga. They had a dau. named
Mary Adaline Norris b. 1846 in Union Co. Ark she married Columbus
Harrison Gray, Aug. 24, 1865 in Union Co. Ark. In 1868, Columbus Gray
left with a wagon train headed to Arizona, where he died. I am sending
a brief thing from the Bible of Georgie Mary Bradley Gray, "Tudie",
abt. her husband James Addison Gray being killed. This Bible is in my
possesion at this date, 2003. Also, I am sending you some material that
I have on this family from Az. The Norris, Gray, Bradley, is my
husband's line. Garner is mine. That J.M. Norris in it, is James Mack
did not leave here until 1878.
