Funeral for Dorothy Jean Butler, 68, of Camden, will be at 10 a.m. today at Eagle Mills Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Morgan officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Proctor Funeral Home in Camden.

ALBERT L. HARRISON
Albert Lee Harrison, 55, of El Dorado, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at Life Touch Hospice. Born on Oct. 20, 1952, in El Dorado, he was the son of the late Alfred Casey Harrison, Sr. and Annie Lou (Ainsworth) Harrison.
Mr. Harrison was a carpenter; co-owner and operator of B&H Construction; a member of the NRA and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Alecia Harrison-Fletcher of El Dorado and Casey Harrison and her fiancé, Donald, of Mount Holly; three brothers, Jimmy Harrison of Huttig, Freddy Harrison and his wife, Kathy, of El Dorado, and Pete Harrison and his wife, Maricette, of Nevada; one sister, Mary Ann Miller and her husband, Paul, of El Dorado; and two grandchildren, Andrew Tyler Fletcher and Lynley Nicole Edens, both of El Dorado.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in Young’s Chapel with the Rev. James Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home.

Gussie M. Martin, 83, of El Dorado, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at Medical Center of South Arkansas.

RUTH L. THRELKELD
Ruth L. Threlkeld, 65, of Hampton, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at Medical Center of South Arkansas.
She was born March 21, 1942, in Calhoun County. She was a homemaker and a member of Camp Ground Presbyterian Church in Hampton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Boyd Oliver and Velma Rogers Oliver; her husband, Bobby D. Threlkeld; and one brother, Leon Oliver.
Survivors include one son, Terry Threlkeld of Blytheville; two daughters, Deborah Kelly of San Diego, and Susan Adams of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; two brothers, Roger Oliver of Hampton, and Steve Oliver of Pine River, Minn.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at Camp Ground Presbyterian Church in Hampton with the Rev. Garland Skidmore officiating.
Burial will be in Varnell Cemetery near Rison under the direction of Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.

ELIZABETH F. CLARK
Elizabeth F. Clark, 84 of El Dorado died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007 at Hillsboro Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 25, 1922, in Coffeeville, Texas, to Richard Hughes Cunliffe and Elizabeth C. Dennard Cunliffe, she was a retired secretary for American Supply and a member of Second Baptist Church where she was very active in church work.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald D. Clark; and son-in-law, Robert N. Ray.
Survivors include her daughter, Gerry F. Ray of El Dorado; two grandsons, Clarke E. Ray of Washington, DC and Michael Ray and his wife Rhonda of El Dorado; four great-grandchildren, Nicole and Dakota Ray of El Dorado, J. D. Martin and his wife, Amanda of Little Rock and Brandon Martin and his wife, Jenny of Norphlet; and two great-great-grandchildren, David Martin of El Dorado and Jena Martin of Norphlet.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Dec. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, in Arlington Memorial Park with the Rev. Bruce Murphy officiating and under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

Jeanice McDuffie Higgins, 57, of El Dorado, died Dec. 19, 2007, at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock.
The daughter of Roy and Vashti McDuffie, she was born Jan. 19, 1950, in El Dorado. She was a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. She was a presser.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Hosea McDuffie; and one sister.
Survivors include one son, Frederick Smith of Dallas; two daughters, Delinda King of El Dorado, and Barbara Pumphrey of Little Rock; three brothers, Ray McDuffie and Arthur McDuffie of El Dorado, and Berry McDuffie of Richmond, Calif.; four sisters, Eddie Davis, Jean Barnes, Linda Moore, all of El Dorado, and Lizzie Hickman of Bryant, Texas; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Pierce Moore officiating. Burial will be in El Bethel Three Creeks Cemetery under the direction of Sims Mortuary.

OBERETTA J. HOLMES
Oberetta J. Holmes, 79, of El Dorado, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at Life Touch Hospice House.
She was born Dec. 7, 1928, in Vivian, La., to Adrian Sinclair Shores and
Bertha Mae Brasher Shores.
She was a retired nurse for Hillsboro Nursing Home, and loved to play dominos. She was a member of Galilee Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Arnold Havard, and Howard Pattings; and brothers, Sam and Jack Shores; and grandson, Freddie B. Sharp.

HELEN L. FAULKNER
Helen Louise Confer Faulkner, 84, of Lake Jackson, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 14, 1923, in El Dorado, to Edward and Mae Confer.
Helen was a resident of the Brazosport, Texas, area for 56 years, member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and retired from BISD in 2004 after 16 years of service. She was a loving wife, fantastic mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She always gave to others before herself.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Franklin "Tank" Faulkner; parents; sister, Jerry Drury; and brother, Harry Confer.
Survivors include her daughters, Beverly Lewellyn and her husband, Larry, of Houston, and Donna Faulkner of Richwood, Texas; sons, James Faulkner and his wife, Sue, of North Carolina, and Curtis Faulkner of Clute, Texas; niece, Sherry Waters and her husband, Dennis, of Weatherford, Texas; grandchildren, Tracy Lewellyn and his wife, Abby, Michael Lewellyn, Jered Faulkner, Keith Faulkner and his wife, Elise, Stephanie Jensen and her husband, Cody, Jeff Faulkner and his wife, Christie, Gretchen Donahue and her husband, Chris, Jennifer Solis and her husband, Chad, Karyn Hudgins and her husband, Jason, and Justin Basdiskis and his wife, Miranda; 13 great-grandchildren, Jessica Solis, Tyler, Katie and Emma Hudgins, Erin, Kelsey and CJ Donahue, Adam, Ryan and Tiffany Faulkner, Derek Lewellyn, Camryn and Laynie Jensen; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Harold "Butch" Forrest, 61, of Warren, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at home.
The son of Porter Forrest and Edna Sue Grider Forest, he was born June 16, 1946, in Warren. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a retired supervisor for Center Point Energy.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Wherry Forrest; a son, Robert Harold Forrest of Warren; a daughter, Monica Savage of Warren; a sister, Susan Whitten of Branson, Mo.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

JAMES E. MOSS
Funeral for James Edgar "Jimmy" Moss, 68, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Haynesville, La., with Dr. Shelby Cowling and Shawn Kaffka officiating. Burial will be in Jolley Cemetery in Junction City under the direction of Bailey Mortuary.
Mr. Moss passed away Dec. 24, 2007, at his home in Haynesville, La., after a brief illness.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Bailey Mortuary in Haynesville.
He was born in Junction City, to Carrie and Archie Moss on Dec. 2, 1939.
He served his country for three years as a signalman in the United States Navy. He retired from David Wade Correctional Center after 20 years of service and loved to fish, hunt, travel and spend time with his family, but most of all he loved watching Kyle and Ryan play ball. For more than 30 years, he was an avid fan of Haynesville Golden Tornado football.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two half-brothers, one half-sister, two sisters, and seven brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Betty Moss; daughters, Becky Moss, Brenda Acklin and husband, Dave, all of Haynesville, Jamie Schmidt and husband, Gary, of El Cajon, Calif.; a sister, Pat Hicks of Haynesville; three grandsons, Kyle and Ryan Acklin of Haynesville, and Matthew Acklin of Beaumont, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Hicks, Tracy Moss, Rodney Moss, Tony Taylor, Dan Acklin and Rocky Daniels. Honoraries will be Kyle Acklin, Ryan Acklin, Robert Reeder, Mark Furlow, J.D. Moss, Paul Moss, Richard Moss, Donnie Moss and the deacons of the First Baptist Church.
The family wants to send a very special thank you to Dr. Salmon, Martha, Whitney, Hazel, Dr. Dhawan and Dr. Desia.

JACKIE PHILLIPS
Jackie Phillips, 67, of Warren, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
The son of Seldon Phillips and Nora Godfrey Phillips, he was born June 4, 1940, at Warren. He was a member of the Ark of Faith Fellowship, and was a retired owner of Phillips Muffler Shop.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Theresa Carolyn West; a son, Vaught Allen Phillips; and a sister, Lois Davis.
Survivors include two sons, Tony Phillips of Warren, and Andy Phillips of Conway; two sisters, Bobbie Mann of Warren, and Joy Lytle of Monticello; and four grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Frazer's Chapel in Warren.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Rye under the direction of Frazer's Funeral Home.

The daughter of Nick McKinney and Mildred Childress McKinney, she was born Feb. 15, 1917, in Cleveland County. She was a retired farmer, clerk, homemaker, and a Freewill Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Havis "Snow" Gavin; son, Harvy Kenneth Gavin; daughter, Sally Annette Williams; brothers, Versel McKinney, Cloise McKinney, Lewis McKinney, Gaston McKinney, Doyle McKinney, and Wilson McKinney; and a grandchild, Dennis Williams.
Survivors include one son, Jearl Gavin of Warren; two daughters, Earline Gavin Johnson of Hot Springs, and Joen Gavin of Bryant; three brothers, Robert McKinney of Seattle, Winfred McKinney of Sumpter, and Clifton McKinney of Warren; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Morgan Monroe Sandifer, 95, of Hope, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
The son of Alec A. and Laurice Estelle Lawrence Sandifer, he was born Sept. 7, 1912, in Union County. He was retired from the saw mill at Hines Lumber Co.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Belle Goffe Sandifer; five brothers, Arthur, Emmet "Hump," John, Langford, and James Sandifer; and three sisters, Dora Sandifer, Mary Sandifer, and Ida Garner.
Survivors include one son, Charles Monroe Sandifer of Hope; two daughters, Martha White and Carolyn Henderson, both of Hope; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

WILLIE E. TALLEY
Willie Earl Talley, 71, of El Dorado, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at Courtyard Rehabilitation.
The son of Curlee and Selia Mae Williams Talley, he was born July 27, 1936, in El Dorado. He was a retired employee of West Tree Service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Maxine Pace Talley.
Survivors include two daughters, Louise Talley of El Dorado, and Rubye Milton of Little Rock; two stepdaughters, Nadine Frost of El Dorado, and Sue Wilbourn of Detroit; one stepson, Eugene Wells of Detroit; two brothers, C.H. Pumphrey and Howard Jackson of El Dorado; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Andrews Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clarence Woods Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery in El Dorado under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.
Public viewing will be held from 2 until 5 p.m. today and from 8 until 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

RUBY O. WILKINSON
Ruby Ollive (Cameron) Wilkinson, 88, of El Dorado, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at Oak Ridge Nursing Home.
Born July 25, 1919, in Farmerville, La., she was the daughter of Marvin Daniel Cameron and Margaret Evelyn (Futch) Cameron. She was a clerk for Sterling's Department Store in El Dorado and RO-MAR's Department Store in Junction City and a member of First Assembly of God. She was a loving mother of three daughters, a great cook and enjoyed sewing and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Leighton Wilkinson; and her parents.
Survivors include three daughters, Evelyn Turbeville and her husband, Bobby Joe, of El Dorado, Margaret McConathy and her husband, Denny, of El Dorado, and Betty Flournoy and her husband, Eddie, of El Dorado; two sisters, Imogene Clawson of Leesville, La., and Roberta McCorvey Clary of Junction City; four grandsons, Joe Turbeville and his wife, Susan, of El Dorado, John David Turbeville and his wife, Amy, of El Dorado, Keith Flournoy and his wife, Jackie, of Ruston, La., and Korey Flournoy and his wife, Jennifer, of El Dorado; five granddaughters, Cindy Anzalone and her husband, Gary, Mary Ann Carruth, Dana Tyson and her husband, Walter, Gina Garrett and her husband, Michael, Leah McDaniel and her husband, Ryker; and 22 great-grandchildren.

JERRY L. BOLLING
Jerry Lane Bolling, 68, of Groves, Texas, died on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at Renaissance Hospital in Groves.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Monday at Bailey Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Rehobeth Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Bolling was a native of Kilgore and lived in several Texas cities before settling in El Dorado, for 14 years as a manager of Beall-Ladyman Department stores. He retired and began a career as an independent consultant with G.A. Wright of Denver, Colo., where he traveled all over the United States for the past 11 years. He was a member of the Danville Masonic Lodge No. 101 A.F. & A.M of Kilgore, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Leon Bolling and Gracie Cates Bolling; brother, L.J. Bolling; and his grandson, Jacob Evans.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Bolling of Groves; three daughters, Gloria Ware and her husband, Mike, of Haynesville, La., Carol Pinder and her husband, Ottis, of Groves, and Jana Evans and her husband, Chad, of Bentonville; seven grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Jeremy and Claude Ware, Amber Pietz, and Noah and Caleb Evans; and two great-grandchildren, Parker Ware and Keegan Pietz.

CLAUDINE P. BOX
Claudine Parris Box of Fort Smith died on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007.
She was the retired branch office manager of the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev., and a member of Roland Church of Christ in Roland, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mose Oliver Parris and Prude Howell Parris; a sister, Inez Parris Patterson; a brother, Claude Parris and her husband, H.F. "Red" Box.

HOMER H. GARNER
Homer Henry Garner, 95, of Rome, Ga., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, in a Rome Health Care facility.
He was born in Camden on Sept. 28, 1912, the son of the late Jesse Dee Garner and Ella Jane Moore Garner. Mr. Garner had been a resident of Floyd County, Ga., since 2001. He retired as chief fire dispatcher with the Orange County, Calif., Fire Department. Mr. Garner was a member of the Two Bayou Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years in April 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Michael H. Garner Sr. and his wife, Diane, of Rome and Terry L. Garner and his wife, Donna, of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Michael and Emily Garner of Henderson, Nev., Cary and Laura Garner of Grayson, Ga., and Christine Garner of Tucson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Rachel Godwin, 66, of McNeil, died on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2007, at her home.
Rachel was born on Sept. 12, 1941, in Atlanta, Texas, the daughter of Charles Ray and Maude Elizabeth (Elkins) Wilson. She was a homemaker and founding member of Faith Baptist Church. She was active with arts and crafts and made numerous wedding cakes for couples in the local area.

She was a retired teacher, a graduate of Henderson State Teachers College, and a member of the National Education Association, Arkansas Education Association, Arkansas Retired Teachers Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Earl George Heimbach.

Born November 22, 1928, in Bichel, Germany, to Markus Veitl and Anna Haslinger Veitl, she worked for Lion Oil Co. for several years before being employed by Col. Barton and Barton Enterprises, where she retired.
Cacilia was an artist and worked in oils. Her paintings are scattered from Mexico to the United States and across Europe. S
She was an avid sportswoman and enjoyed the outdoors with boating and water-skiing being her favorite.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Rosa Veitl.

David Wayne Johnson, 35, of Junction City, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, of natural causes.
Born Feb. 24, 1972, in El Dorado, he was the son of Randy and Kathy Johnson. After graduating from Old Union High School, David continued working in the family business. David also worked in a Work Release Program for the city of El Dorado. David was a reserve police officer for the El Dorado Police Department and the Union County Sheriff's Office. David managed the city auditorium and was responsible for many of the entertainment groups that performed in El Dorado. In his most recent years, David worked in the amusement and entertainment business as co-owner of Johnson Bros. Amusement Co.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Karen McMurtry.

Born Feb. 7, 1930, in El Dorado, she was the daughter of Wesley Ford and Mary Ortego Ford. She was a homemaker and was employed at First National Bank for many years before going to work in real estate sales. She was a member of Eastern Star and West Side Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, James H. Page.

He worked as a pipe fitter with Arkansas Nuclear One, retiring in 1985. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Crossett Masonic Lodge, and also was a member of the Shriner's. He also was a member of the London Civic Club and active with the Pope County Farmers Market, and was a member of the London First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Claudette Blasingame.

THOMAS L. GRIFFIN
Thomas L. "Fuzzy" Griffin, 89, of Friendswood, Texas, and formerly of El Dorado, passed away Dec. 29, 2007, after a long battle with dementia.
He was born Sept. 25, 1918, in El Dorado to Morgan and Ruth Griffin and was raised in El Dorado, graduating from El Dorado High School and the University of Arkansas.
He was a 50-year member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and was initiate number 1,000 of the XI chapter at Arkansas. It was at the University of Arkansas that he met his wife "Kappy." They were married in 1948 and were married 59 years at his death.
A 50-year member of the El Dorado Masonic Lodge, he was also a member of the El Dorado Lion's Club and was named "Lion of the Year" in 1964, and served as president in 1967. He was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in El Dorado and a member of the Francis Asbury Sunday School class. He served his country in World War II and retired as a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force Reserves. He was employed for 31 years by American Oil Co. in El Dorado and Texas City, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Griffin.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn "Kappy" Griffin; and one son, Thomas Lee Griffin Jr., both of Friendswood, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today in Arlington Memorial Park with the Rev. Jim Polk officiating and under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

She was a homemaker until her children completed school and later joined her husband at El Dorado Pharmacy as bookkeeper and "jack-of-all-trades." She was a member of First Baptist Church; member of Prime-Timers and a Sunday School teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Sherwood Perkins; a brother, Willis Fleming; and sister, Marie Pfeiffer.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Perk; a daughter, Sherry Bartley of Little Rock; a grandson, Joseph Kirby Mahony III, of Little Rock; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan Mahony, Alex Mahony and Joseph Kirby Mahony IV.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors with Dr. Lynn Worthen officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wylonda Johnson Cruse Carroll, 83, of Spearsville, La., will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterling-ton Road, Monroe, La., with Dr. Connie Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Carroll was born in Winnsboro, La., in 1924 and passed away Jan. 3, 2008, at Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado.
Mrs. Carroll loved to spend time with her family, work in her garden, and to travel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Carroll and grandchildren, Tom Cruse and Denny Roark.
