QUERY:I'm looking for info on my g-g grandfather Hale Talbert MITCHELL. He was born in Alabama ca. 1826, and his parents were, I believe, from South Carolina. He married Margaret A. LODGE KING Aug. 11, 1854 in Union Co. Ark. Margaret was born 1830 in North Carolina to parents Redmond LODGE and Temperance BRASWELL. Hale had two sons, John H., born 1855 in Arkansas, James P., born 1866 in Arkansas or Texas, and a daughter Clementine born 1869 in Arkansas. Hale joined the 4th Arkansas infantry, Company A "Calhoun Escopets", CSA, in 1861 and served until their surrender in 1865. He died April 21, 1900. Both parents are supposed to have been born in South Carolina. I'm also pretty sure he had brothers and sisters in Union County Arkansas, where he lived when he enlisted before moving to Miller County Arkansas after the war (his property included Cass County Texas). I have linked her to Alic "Blackie" ROBERTS. I have linked Roberts to Union County on several occasions. My grandparents went to Union Co., in the winter of 1925 when my mother was a tiny baby. They lived around Norphlet. The family had strong ties there because several members stayed there till their deaths. Theirs names were: Jesse YOUNG, Onie Young ( married George Haslam), Cora or Dora Belle YOUNG (Blind), Gertrude (Gertie May)FLOWERS (married James Olan Cochran), Sally YOUNG (married James Olan Cochran after Gertude's death), Mamie YOUNG FLOWERS, or Charles Alexander FLOWERS (Alex or Elic). Mamie supposedly died in a Little Rock hospital/sanatarium in 1930. We can find no death certificate in Little Rock for Mamie FLOWERS. I would appreciate any information on any of these people. My mother is 72 yrs. old and has not seen her mother or known anything about her mother since 1930. I am desperate to find any information possible on her family. I have death certificates on part of these people except Mamie FLOWERS and Emma YOUNG ROBERTS. I have made 3 trips to Arkansas and found the grave yard where Gertrude Cochran is buried and where Mamie FLOWERS is supposed to be buried but could not find a grave. Your help would be appreciated. Wood in LA; buried Red Hill Cemetery Quachita Co,, Ark; Mary b 1846; George W. be 16 Feb 1850 d 19 May 1917 buried Amity Cemetery Nashville Ark.; Narcess J. b about 1851; Martin b about 1852. There is a story that the McMurrains left GA for ARK because of trouble between them and another family. The McMurrains killed some of this family at church one day and left for Ark that night! William, Seaborn, and George were in Ark in teh 1870s; Hanna and John Wood came between 1875 and 1880 and lived in Howard County in 1880. Thomas' brother John had several children born around Macon GA and Columbus GA - His son Mirrabeau B. McMurrain was a famer in El Dorado, Ark - he was born in 1832. In 1870 he moved to Sevier County, returning to Union County in 1881. Married three times: 1)Noncie FULTON from GA; 2) Amanda BOSWORTH; 3) Mattie INGRAM from AL.
