Funeral Services for Ben Holley Held Yesterday
(death date-18 Nov 1963 in Exeter, Tulare County, California)

Funeral services were held at the Hadley chapel yesterday afternoon for Ben H. Holley, 75, who died Monday in the Exeter Memorial hospital.

He was a native of Van Buren County, Arkansas, and attended Dodd School, a log cabin school in that county. He farmed there until moving to Shirley, Ark., in 1924.

On February 24, 1907, he married the former Mattie Robertson in Shirley and upon moving there in 1924 became a grocery wholesaler. In 1927 be bought a blacksmith shop which he operated until 1952 when they moved to San Jose.

Moving to Exeter in 1953, he became an employee at the Roper packing house. He was a member of the Exeter Freewill Baptist Church and of the Woodmen of the World.

Survivors, besides his wife, include a daughter, Mrs. Eula Suggs of Exeter; a brother, Leroy Holley of Exeter; five grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Rev. Bob Cantrell officiated at the service. Music was furnished by Lydia Long and the casket bearers were Sterling King. Ernest Kelms, Gene Pettyjohn, Floyd Bolin, Charlie Jones and Alvin Long.
