Porter was born in Fairbanks, Van Buren Co, AR, in 1886 to James Chistian and Cynthia Luiza McDaniels Risener.

Dear Lula. Just a few lines to say we arrived all OK yesterday. J.H. and all the folks was over to Searcy. But came in last night and seam better in some respecks. Otha is going to C.E. (?) this morning, it rained all night last night. I am feeling very well my self. Hope you are all feeling fine. Much love to all. Yours, S.P. Risener"
