Notes for WILLIAM CHRISTOFER HOLLEY:

The identity of William's wife if established in 3 parts:

1) The 1850 Census

2) Their marriaage in Carter County, Tennessee

3) Their son, William Moreland Holley's middle name. I had known that h is middle initial was M., but only learned recently from Millie Burfor d, a Holley cousin from St. Louis, that the M. stood for Moreland. This w as yet another lead, and I am now reasonably sure that Winna Moreland w as William C. Holley's wife.

I believe that Private William Holley listed from Carter County, Tenness ee , in Captain Henry Hunter's Company is this ancetor.

CAPTAIN HENRY HUNTER'S COMPANY:

The following is the roster of Captain Henry Hunter's Companyh,

Colonel William Johnson's Regiment, during the War of 1812. The

Company was called into service on September 20, 1814 and mustered

at Tazewell. It was discharged May 3, 1815. This was a mixed Company,

that is, it was composed of men from several counties.

This Company was part of the force General Andrew Jackson left Mobile,

Alabama to prevent the British landing there instead of at New Orleans.
