Volunteers

If you would like to volunteer, we have several opportunities for you.
Each month, we draw for a "door prize". Each time you finish a project, you get your name in the hat - the more projects you complete, the more chances you have to win. The prizes won't be anything grand but perhaps useful.
Choose one of the items from the list and send me a note (we don't want duplication). Each item has a (required number) to earn a ticket for the drawing.
I'm pretty busy updating pages (removing bad links and getting them ready to go mobile) so I can't actually do any transcription work right now.
  • Cemetery surveys with photos will get you TWO tickets! (COMPLETE surveys only, you get a ticket for each 50 photos with a minimum of 2 tickets)
  • There are images of Bible records that need to be transcribed. (2 pages)
  • Report on-site links that open in a new tab or window. It can be annoying to open 5 cemeteries and each one opens in a new tab or window. (5)
  • Residents of VBC should visit the libraries to see if they have any old documents we have not yet copied or transcribed. (Check the vertical files.) (2 transcriptions)
  • Report pages that say argenweb.net in the browser tab up top (where this one says Volunteers, Van Buren County, ARGenWeb). (5)
  • I need an audit of which census records still need to be transcribed. (This is going to be tedious but I have something that will make it a lot easier.) (1 year)
  • I need proofreaders! Copy the contents of a page, drop it into a program that can check spelling (grammar, too, if you can) and then send me the results. (3 pages)
  • We have some images on the Snow Lick Church page that need transcribing. (2 pages)
  • Transcribe probate records for Jesse Goff and William Keen (3 images, 2 images)
  • Transcribe land records for Individuals (2 images)
  • Transcribe bio of J H O'Neal (2 images)
  • You may have something to contribute that isn't on this list, I'll take it and give you a ticket!
I'm very excited about the help I'm getting. We only need a few more folks to make this site even better than it is.
