The Washington County Archives is located on the 2nd floor of the historic Washington County Courthouse in the areas
formerly housing the Circuit Clerk's and County Clerk's offices.
Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00-4:30. 

Administrative & Financial Records include records of both the County Court and Quorum Court,  as well as Legislative Audit
Reports, Budgets, General Accounts Ledgers, and Warrant Registers.  Administrative & Financial Records illustrate
Washington County's policy and financial history from 1835 to the present. 

Court Records include records of the Circuit Court, as well as records of the Chancery and Probate Courts. Beginning with
1828, these records contain information on  civil and criminal cases, as well as divorces, property disputes, and disputes
involving the estates of deceased individuals.  
The Archives houses Civil, Criminal, and Chancery Court Files through 1995 & Probate Files through 1953.

Land Records include Original Entry Records, Deed and Mortgage Records, and Surveys. They begin with the formation of
Washington County. There is original and microfilm copies of Land Records through 1998.

Licenses & Registrations include records such as Incorporation Records, Medical, Practitioners' Licenses, Military Discharge Records, & Marriage Licenses.  Earliest marriages are from 1845.

School Records of the Washington County Board of Education, which closed June 30, 2000, include Annual Reports, Minutes of
the Board of Education, and School District Census Records. The earliest record is from 1852 and the most recent is from
2000. School Census Records, which enumerate students of each school district, cover the years 1928-1978.

Tax & Assessment Records begin with 1866 and include both Personal Property and Real Estate Tax Records. Personal Property
Records are available in this office through 1996. Real Estate Tax Records are available through 1985. For information on
