Herbs, Erbs or, as Granny Clampett would say, 'Yarbs' ... Herbs are truly amazing and wonderful things. White Countians who wanted to learn more about them, how the early settlers used them, how to grow them, where to find them, and how to ward off colic with them, came to the July 26, 2004, meeting of the White County Historical Society. Billie Willingham, who once grew herbs commercially, presente a program entitled "Herbs, Erbs or, as Granny Clampett Would Say, 'Yarbs!'" Billie first learned about herbs from a White County pioneer woman, her grandmother Allie Bennett, who grew sage, horehound, catnip and other herbs at Letona and used them in their day-to-day lives. This was an interesting, informative and entertaining program that took the audience back to earlier years. | |
