Presentation by Dr. Mark White, January 24, 2005
The spotlight turned to Southwestern Pottery for the White County Historical Society's first regular monthly meeting of 2005. Dr. Mark White presented this unique program Monday, January 24, in the dining hall at Harding Place. From his childhood on a Cherokee Indian reservation in Oklahoma to his busy career as a radiologist in Searcy, he has developed a deep interest in southwestern culture and the beautiful pottery of this area. He has accumulated a collection of some 40 pieces of pottery, including one work by the esteemed Pueblo Indian artist Maria Martinez. Dr. White brought some of the pieces from his collection for display and showed others in a Power Point video presentation. A large and appreciative crowd was in attendance. |
