BATESVILLE AUTHOR TO PRESENT PROGRAM MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 7 P.M.
Batesville historian Freeman K. Mobley will present the month's regular program to the White County Historical Society Monday, September 25, at Harding Place in Searcy. Mobley will discuss his book Making Sense of the Civil War in Batesville-Jacksonport and Northeast Arkansas 1861-1874, which was published last year. In 1862 Union General Samuel Curtis found Batesville-Jacksonport to be an ideal base to prepare his army for an assault on Little Rock. Official records, with various diaries, letters and biographies were gathered for the book. Don't miss this interesting perspective on the Civil War. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
