"Belcher Graveyard," as it was called by Robert N. Boggan when he prepared the first report July 20, 1970, is located in Section 1,

SW corner of the SE1/4 of SW1/4 Township 5 North, Range 6 West. Boggan, a former resident of White County, was director of the

Arkansas Veterans Service Office when he prepared a listing of 20 names for publication in the White County Historical

Society’s White County Heritage annual history. "This graveyard is not being maintained and hasn’t for many years," he wrote. "It’s

difficult to get to but during dry weather I can get there. …Both the White Oak and Belcher grave yards were built in a thriving and

was also close to the Rock Island Railroad that used to run through there."

Belcher Cemetery was updated April 13, 2000, by Gerald Torrence, a member of the White County Historical Society. He found 18

more headstones and a burial as recent as 1997. He reported, "the road that goes back to the cemetery is ok in dry weather --

White County built the road -- but it needs to have gravel put on it for wet weather. The cemetery needs work; some stones or

crumbling some holes on graves; it looks like the only mowing it gets is bush hogging. Some of the graves are in good shape."

Historical Society member Leroy Blair visited the cemetery October 2009, and reported "it is now fairly clean." He added, "There

are so many unmarked graves it would be very hard to tell how many but my guess is over 100. The cemetery covers a very large

area. Where the graves are located indicates that there are probably a lot more not marked."
