Harmony Cemetery is located on a steep hillside south of Center Hill and north of Floyd on Hwy 305. On the backside there are two

underground streams that come out of the ground and run down the hill.

This cemetery, which is located across the road from the Harmony Methodist Church, was originally listed in 1968 by Cloie and

Leister Presley of the White County Historical Society and published in the 1968 edition of White County Heritage. They reported

finding 99 graves unmarked or marked with rocks or concrete markers with no names. An updated survey was prepared for the

Historical Society April 16, 2000, by Shirley Merriman and Tommy H. Treadway, who reported the cemetery “is well kept and

headstones are in good shape. Rows were in good alignment and easy to follow.”

Leroy Blair visited the cemetery in March 2001 and again in December 2002. He reported finding “a plot enclosed with a concrete

ring about 12x12 feet with no markers” and said an elderly lady at the cemetery told him the ring was there when her father was a

little boy and it did not have any markers then. But, he had been told that an entire family was buried there in one grave after their

remains had been found in a burned home in the Harmony community. But, according to Blair, “when I visited the cemetery in

November 2006 I found that the concrete ring had been removed, and there was no sign of where the ring or grave had been

located.”
