This cemetery was visited in November 2000 by Gerald Torrence for the White County Historical Society. He reported it "is in bad
shape and has been visited by vandals." As his photo above conveys, several stones have been pushed off their base. He provided
the following directions: "To reach the Cemetery take Highway 87 North from Bradford. At the first fork in the road, go left. Heard
Cemetery will be located on the right. Then go to the second road to the left after passing Heard. This is Turner Road – turn left
there. Smith Cemetery is about 200 feet down Turner Road, on the left." McKnight Cemetery is located in Section 12, Township 9
North, Range 5 West. It was first listed in May 1968 by the Bradford Homemaker’s Extension Club, then published by the White
County Historical Society in its 1969 edition of White County Heritage
When Torrence visited the Cemetery he said he needed an axe to cut away brush to read the stones. He was able to read only
eight stones. The cemetery was visited January 3, 2001, by Leroy Blair of the Historical Society, who found a grave – that of M.I.
McKnight – which had not been listed previously. Other than the eight stones that Torrence found, plus the stone of M.I. McKnight
that Blair found, the names below are from the original 1968 list.
Blair was unable to find the following graves from the ’68 list: Alonzo Gambill, Birdie Gambill, Willie May Gambill, McKnight next to
Violet, Ellen McKnight, Hugh S. McKnight, R. McKnight, Violet next to McKnight, Ann Ball McKnight Wilson, William B. Wilson and
Margaret Susie Gwyn. Blair reported, "This cemetery needs a good cleaning and stones remounted on their bases."

I will be posting more burials later. The Searcy Daily Citizen donated all their Micro Film and Ledgers dating
back to 1953. After reviewing them, if I find a death of a person that we do not have I will to add to the
cemetery listings.
There are some graves listed as unmarked that may have had a tombstone set since the listing was made.
I may have missed some graves when I prepared the listing. Some cemeteries are very hard to get an
accurate listing due to how some graves are scattered
The following Abbreviations are used in the listings
.
FM-Funeral home marker DS-Double tombstone TS-Triple tombstone
(Obit)-means that the Historical Society has, or has access to the Obituary for this person.
