Crow Black Cemetery

Kensett, Arkansas

Only blacks are buried in this section of Crow Cemetery which was first listed for the White County Historical Society January 3, 1992, by Mr. and Mrs. Leister Presley of Searcy. "This is the well-kept part in the front by the road," their report states. "It has a good cover of grass that is well kept. There are no rocks there and many places show forms of graves but have nothing to mark them as graves. There are some graves marked with concrete blocks which have no names. All marked graves are listed. There were 12 graves with identical tombstones indicating they were all ‘Faithful Members of the Silver Ring Circle #202.’ All these only listed the date of death."

This record was updated by White County Historical Society member Leroy Blair after he and his wife Ellen visited the cemetery January 10, 2001. (See CROW CEMETERY.) The Blair update includes 66 names that were not on the Presley list. Blair added 11 more names in December 2002, then four more when he visited the cemetery on February 16, 2005. He noted during this visit that "someone has placed small white and orange flags at each marked grave and some of the unmarked graves.

If you have corrections or additions to this list, contact the White County Historical Society, P.O. Box 537, Searcy, AR 72145.
