Mardis Family Cemetery

Bradford, Arkansas

This cemetery was first recorded by Leroy Blair of the White County Historical Society in February 2002. Following is his report: "I was told of this old cemetery by a lady who works in one of the White County offices and lives near the cemetery. It is located off Goad Road just outside the Bradford city limits. I believe it is in White County, for if you are coming southeast on Highway 87 from Denmark, about a mile after you pass the ‘Entering White County’ sign, take the first road that goes north. Go about a half mile to the first crossroad and turn right. The cemetery will be on the left about two-tenths of a mile down this road. This is probably a very old cemetery. It appears to have been badly overgrown until very recently. It is enclosed by an old wrought iron fence. It is located in a pasture field in back of an old house trailer which was vacant. There is one large stone with the Albert Mardis family inscription on it [photo above] and one other engraved stone for Miles Chambliss. There are 14 sets of field rocks with no information on them."

If you have corrections or additions to this list or additional information on this cemetery, contact the White County Historical Society, P.O. Box 537, Searcy, AR 72145.
