THE GREAT DISAPPEARING COOKBOOK

What’s cooking in White County, Arkansas?   A sizzling hot cookbook that has already sold out three times.    It’s called “White County Cookin’” and was produced by the White County Historical Society to feature in our booth at the County Fair last fall.   When the cookbooks started jumping off the counter at the Fair, we knew we had a hit – and the first printing was gone in just a few days.   We’ve ordered four times because it seems like you just can’t get enough “White County Cookin’.”    The cookbook is spiral-bound, 260 pages, convenient 5½ x 8½ size with a nostalgic cover photo of ladies in aprons and sunbonnets at Floyd in 1929.  We don’t know what they were serving on that table but we bet it disappeared in a hurry, too – just like our cookbooks did.   “White County Cookin’”  is full of old pictures, stories and more than 300 family recipes with roots that run deep in our local soil.   It’s a great gift and a must for your cookbook collection.   You can  pick up a copy for $10 at Historical Society meetings and other outlets in the Searcy area, or for $12 by mail by writing WCHS, P.O. Box 537, Searcy, AR 72145.  If you’d like a copy, better get it quick before they disappear again.   Where are all those books going anyway?
