Just in time for Mother's Day, the White County Historical Society is dishing up another helping of cooking. Hot off the presses is an all-new cookbook, a delectable collection of vintage recipes, photographs and stories entitled White County Cooks Another Helping.

Two earlier cookbooks - White County Cookin' and White County's Cookin' Again - have been big hits, raising funds for the Society's preservation projects.

With a 70-year-old photograph of a Letona homecoming on the front cover, the new cookbook contains 350 recipes plus comments and stories from some of the Historical Society’s best storytellers - Walter Wisdom, W.C. Welch, R.C. McCourt, Cloie Presley, Christina Spear, Billie Willingham and others. Photographs range from a 100-year-old view of a Searcy grocery to an elegant 1953 wedding rehearsal dinner at the Rendezvous Restaurant.

The new book and the first two cookbooks are available for $10 each plus $2 postage. Send orders to WCHS, P.O. Box 537, Searcy AR 72145. The cookbook committee includes Ellen Blair, Ruth Browning and Anna Beth Redmon. Ellen can tell you where to pick up a copy locally and save time plus the postage charge. She's at 501 207-2057. The book has a nice Mother's Day gift message on the first inside page, which can easily be removed if you're buying for a birthday or Christmas.
