A Personal Invitation

The White County Historical Society invites your inquiries and solicits your information and materials on early White County. You may contact us at P.O. Box 537, Searcy, AR 72145 or wchistory@swbell.net

We were founded in 1961 "to bring together those people interested in the history of White County." Our major function is to discover and collect material that may help document the history of our area. Among our many projects is the annual White County Heritage publication containing important genealogical and historical information. To review the contents of four decades of publications, click on WHITE COUNTY HERITAGE INDEX. This index, although lengthy and helpful, does not contain all the thousands of surnames that may be found in these works.

The Heritage is mailed free to White County Historical Society members. Dues are $20 per year. Our membership totals more than 500, from Maine to Oregon, including numerous libraries. Meetings are held on the fourth Monday night of each month except December. Location is Harding Place in Searcy, and meeting time is 7 p.m.

We enjoy hearing from anyone with White County roots and make every effort to be of assistance. We try to place inquirers in touch with members or other area residents who might be of assistance. One of the most valuable benefits of Historical Society membership is the opportunity to network with senior citizens uniquely knowledgeable about communities and families of early White County. Most of our cities are very small, and residents tend to stay put. So, roots are deep, and memories are long and often helpful to the nonresident genealogist.

This is a personal invitation to consider membership in the White County Historical Society. Come be a part of history with us!
