SQUIRREL HUNTERS

--photo courtesy of Billie Willingham, White County Historical Society

Who needs camouflage? These Pickens Chapel squirrel hunters didn’t have any, and they still had a successful day. It’s hard to tell if they’re proudest of the squirrels they killed or the guns they owned. Shown (left to right) are Edgar Whisnant, Jim Bunch, Auther Clay and Bruce Whisnant. Bruce and Edgar were brothers and Jim married their sister Magie. Authur was brother-in-law of Richard Bennett, grandfather of Billie Willingham who donated the picture. The date of this photograph is uncertain, but Edgar Whisnant died in 1922.
