Alexander Baggs | |||||||||||||||
In 1830 there were only 30,388 residents in the Territory of Arkansas including Alexander in his fifties with a wife in her forties and two boys and four girls. John and wife in their twenties and two girls under 5 and James Baggs in his twenties with a wife 15 to 20 and 1 girl under five, all living near each other, in Hempstead Co. In the 1830s the Whittington Store ledger shows Alexander, John and James Baggs were doing business in Mt Ida, Hot Spring Co. AR. I would be inclined to think that James was John's older brother. 1840 Hot

BAGGS: Looking for Ann Baggs,
who married John Belcher in 1877. John's father was Lewis Belcher. She
is a daughter from the "first set" of children of William Briton Baggs
and Ellender Oller. She was born about 1856. Other children's names were
Lum, Boss, Wills and John Henry. They were in Montgomery County, AR in
the mid to late 1800s. Any info is appreciated. Also looking for
information on Richard Belcher, believed to have been in Montgomery
County, AR around the same time. Ann cannot be the daughter of James R. Baggs, who is born 1857, because they both are listed on the census record for 1880, as living next door to each other. Ann Baggs-Belcher is listed with her husband, John, and their first child Wm. Matthew. Any info is helpful. There was an earlier set of children, but no one seems to have any info on these children. b. abt 1893 and was at the Tuberculosis Sanatorium in the 50's first as
a patient and later as a nurses aide? I recently emailed with Everret
Copeland (grandson of Susan Baggs) and he remembers going to visit her
in the early 50's but so far I can not find where she fits in the
family. Linda
Beggs McAdoo 26 Nov. 2003 Mary C. McConnell born circa 1866 in
Montgomery Co., AR to David and Louisa Jane McConnell. She is listed on
the 1870 and 1880 Montgomery Co. census records with her parents. In
1884, Mary C. married John R. Baggs in Montgomery Co. John R. Baggs then
married Mary E. Bradburn in Dec.1891 in Montgomery Co. Most likely Mary C.
died and then John remarried to Mary E. It appears that John R. Baggs
was the son of William B. and Ellander Baggs as listed on the 1880
Montgomery Co., AR. Carla March
12 2004 I have the Baggs back to John Baggs b.
abt 1680 in Ireland. I am descended from James, William Britton, Jess
R.., John Dinson and then my dad Carl Joseph Beggs who still lives in
