   Mary Madeline Farmer, 95, of Lincoln, Ark., died Aug. 14, 1997.
Born Oct. 15, 1901 at Pettigrew, Ark., she was a daughter of Sheridan
and Gillian Fields.  Mrs. Farmer was married Oct. 17, 1920 to S. E. Farmer,
who preceded her in death on April 9, 1932.  To thia union was born seven
sons and one daughter. Two sons preceded her in death. She was also
preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

   Survivors include her children and their families; Cecil Farmer and wife
Pauline of Lincoln, Walter Farmer of Salem Springs, Ark., Earl Farmer
and wife Eva of Hemit, Calif., Lester Farmer and wife Millie of Lincoln,
Leonard Farmer and wife Nadine of Cincinnati, Ark., Oletta Farmer
McGaughy Austin and Rev. Jack Austin of Rogers, Ark.; one sister, Ethel
Belton of California; 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 18
great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends
and neighbors who reside in northwest Arkansas.

  Mr. and Mrs. Farmer moved to southern California when the children
were small.  she worked at Knotts Berry Farm for more than 20 years.
They returned to Lincoln in the late 1950's. She loved to work in her flowers
and always made a large garden, only to give most of the crop she grew to
friends, neighbors and children.

  Family members said Mrs. Farmer was a great person, raised her
children in church and attended the Pentecostal Church of God in Lincoln.
She loved God and everone else.

  Funeral services were Aug. 19 at the Pentecostal Church of God in Lincoln
with Rev. Jack Austin officiating.

Burial followed at the Lincoln Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts
Funeral Home of Westville, Okla.
