Rock Springs Methodist Church

Rock Springs church was first built of logs around 1840. James Dunn gave the land for the Church and Cemetery. The Church & Cemetery are located in Manchester Township, about 5 and 1/2 miles north of Sparkman, off Hwy 7, on Dallas 242.

A new and larger Church was built around 1865 by John W. Cain and his brother-in-law, James Patterson. The logs used for the Church were sawed at Patterson Mill Place, a water mill on the Cypress Creek. It is estimated that it took nearly four years to cut the lumber and build the Church and benches.

In 1944, a tornado destroyed the log church and did extensive damage to the area. A new white frame building was erected, using some of the lumber from the old Church. This Church still stands today.
