Iva Launius
Iva Mae Porterfield Launius, 87, of Sparkman died Wednesday in Arkadelphia. She was born July 12, 1918 at Rolla, Ark. Her parents were Milton "Doc" and Katie Porterfield, and a stepmother, Gracie Porterfield. She was a loving homemaker and a faithful Christian, and was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church near Sparkman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Edwin Launius; a daughter, Pat Stringfellow; five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas Launius and wife, Delores, of Fouke, Ark., Larry Launius and wife, Pat, of Doddridge, Ark., and Bobbie Launius and wife, Stephanie, of Camden; two daughters, Betty Wilkins and husband, Mike, of Sparkman, and Kate Carter and husband, Buddy, of Monticello; one son-in-law, Bill Stringfellow; two brothers, Charles and Loy Porterfield of Malvern; two sisters, Ann Johnson of Arkadelphia and Ruth Newton of Malvern; 44 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel in Arkadelphia. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Jeremy Horton, and pallbearers will be her grandsons. Burial will be in the Sparkman Cemetery.
