MALVERN – Carrie Maxine Smith, 74, of Malvern, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010, in a Little Rock hospital. 


Born Dec. 29, 1935, she was a graduate of Carthage High School and retired from Lake Catherine Footwear. She was predeceased by her parents, Loucious Smith and Alma Bryant; her husband, Hersel Smith; one son, Garry Smith; and one daughter-in-law, Veronica Smith. 


Survivors include one daughter, Alice Faye Smith, of Malvern; four sons and one daughter-in-law, Donnie R. Smith, of Hollywood, Karl E. and Vivian Smith and Talwin B. Smith, all of Malvern, and Terry L. Smith, of Alexander; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Amberline Walker, of Los Angeles, Shirley and Glenn McCoy, of Elmonte, Calif., and Velma Smith, of Hollywood; one brother, Loucious Smith Jr., of Merrillville, Ind.; and two sisters-in-law, Connie Mae Crain and Doris Mitchell, both of Malvern. 


The service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church, 220 Vine St., with the Rev. C.D. Hart Sr. officiating. 


Pallbearers will be William Burks, Sam Bryant, James Bryant, Louis Turner, Floyd Turner and Ezelle Davis. 


Honorary pallbearer is Brotherhood of First Baptist Church. 


Burial will be in Perla Cemetery. 


Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Wednesday in Brandon’s Mortuary chapel.
