Organized 1962; membership open to everyone interested in Arkansas genealogy; dues are $20.00/calendar year. AGS publishes "The Arkansas Family Historian," a quarterly journal containing family histories, cemetery inventories, Bible records, source materials, news about genealogical events, book reviews, members' queries, methodology articles and more. Queries may be submitted with membership dues; they should be limited to 50 words and pertain to Arkansas.

Garland County Historical Society - The archives, located  at 328 Quapaw Avenue, Hot Springs, are open from 8 to 12 each weekday morning except on holidays. Mailing address is PO box 21335, Hot Springs AR 71903.  Email address is GCHS@HotSprings.net.  Phone number 501 321 2159.  Organized 1960; membership open, annual dues start at $20.00 plus $5 if Record is mailed; interested in local history and genealogy; meets at noon on third Tuesday of each month at St Joseph's board room, September through May.  Excellent Garland County collection, census, newspapers and some 20,000 photographs. Annual publication THE RECORD has won several awards from the Arkansas Historical Association. Contents include year to year variety of family history, early Hot Springs articles, historic buildings and many early photos. Melting Pot Genealogical Society, organized in 1976, meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month, September through May, at 1:30 p.m., at the Garland County Public Library, 1427 Malvern, Hot Springs, Arkansas. Membership dues are $20.00 for the calendar year and include two MPGS publications (add $3.00 if publications are mailed). Monthly meeting programs are designed to promote interest in research, to foster careful documentation, and to encourage scholarly writing. At least two workshops conducted by genealogy researchers and historians are offered annually. The Melting Pot Genealogical Society has collected and preserved over two thousand volumes of genealogy related books in its library located at 223-A Hazel Street, Hot Springs, AR (501-624-0229). The Melting Pot Genealogical Society Library, staffed by member volunteers, is open on Mondays, Fridays, and the second Saturday of the month from 10:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.

Organized 1987; membership open, dues $10.00/year; interested in genealogy; meets first Thursday of each month except January, July and August. Mail inquiry policy: answers letters, no fee. No publication.
