HOME ECONOMIC CLUB

    THE HOME ECONOMIC CLASSES ORGANIZED A HOME ECONOMIC CLUB, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5.

    THE FOLLOWING OFFICERS WERE ELECTED: PRESIDENT, LOUISE McCULLAR; VICE-PRESIDENT, LAVADNA MILES; SECRETARY, GERTRUDE HAIRRELL; TREASURER, LATRINA CUNNINGHAM; REPORTER, VIOLA McCULLAR

    THE HOME ECONOMIC GIRLS, WITH THE AID OF FOUR AGRICULTURE BOYS, PRESENTED A PLAY, "A READY MADE FAMILY", FEBRUARY 7, 1941

    FATHER AND SON BANQUET AND GREENE COUNTY EXECUTIVES CLUB BANQUET WERE HELD IN THE SCHOOL AUDITORIUM. THE MEAL WAS PREPARED AND SERVED BY THE HOME ECONOMICS GIRLS.

    A BANQUET WAS GIVEN IN THE HONOR OF THE GIRLS' MOTHERS, MARCH 27, 1941.

    THE GIRLS WILL RECEIVE HOME ECONOMICS PINS.

 

GLEE CLUB ACTIVITIES

    THE LAKESIDE GLEE CLUB WAS ORGANIZED NOVEMBER 23, 1939. HOWARD MILES WAS DIRECTOR AND MISS ELA GENE LLOYD WAS THE ACCOMPANIST. CLASSES PARTICIPATING IN THE CLUB WERE THE SEVENTH, EIGHT, NINTH, TENTH, ELEVENTH, AND TWELFTH GRADES. THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY FIFTY MEMBERS. JULY 25, 1940 THE GLEE CLUB WAS ENTERTAINED WITH A WATERMELON FEAST ON THE SCHOOL CAMPUS. ON MARCH 29TH THE CLUB MEMBERS WERE TAKEN TO MARMADUKE TO A MUSIC FESTIVAL, AND THERE THEY PRESENTED A SHORT PROGRAM.

    TWO QUARTETS WERE ORGANIZED FROM THE GROUP. A BOYS QUARTET AND A GIRLS QUARTET. THESE GROUPS ATTENDED SEVERAL SINGING CONVENTIONS AND ALSO SANG IN OUR SCHOOL AUDITORIUM FOR THE ASSEMBLIES AND OTHER ENTERTAINMENTS.

    THE CLUB MET IN THE AUDITORIUM ON TUESDAY AND THURSDAY OF EACH WEEK, WITH A FORTY-FIVE MINUTE PROGRAM AT EACH MEETING.
