NELSON
Jacob Nelson was a slave. He was probably born during the 1840's or 1850's. He had 16 children beginning in 1862 or 1863. He married a woman named Charlotte. Charlotte was probably 1/2 Native American. Jacob was very light with blue eyes. My grandfather, Enoch Nelson was born in 1865. He was the second child. The first born was named Abraham. Other children were called Joseph, Lucinda, Margaret (Maggie). I can't remember the other children's names. These children were born in Ashdown, AR. BOATRIGHT
I am looking for any information on Lewis, Thomas, or Friend BOATRIGHT. They were in the Little River, Miller and Sevier area around 1818 to 1829. On to Pope Co. AR in 1830 Census. In 1835 Lewis is in Chicot Co. Thomas Sr. presumably died and the BOATRIGHT clan headed back to TX. They had come to Texas with Stephen F. Austin's original Three Hundred Settlers in late 1821. He was a physician and died 7 January 1933 in Winthrop, Little River County, AR. He was buried in Arden, Little River County. Looking for family members present and past of my grandparents) Lucy Weaver HIGHTOWER and A (known as AB) HIGHTOWER, both deceased. I, my father and many family members were born/lived in Warren, AR. A Hightower's siblings were:Norwood, Fred and Maggie believed to have married a Jim Johns. Most of these families were from the Warren area. Two other brothers left home and were never heard of again. Their father's name is believed to be John who died in Warren ard. 1925-26. Also wanting to find WEAVER family. Lucy had several siblings of father, "Thomas" (not sure) supposedly of the AR area. They were brothers Ed, Henry, and sister Annie believed to have married a Simmons. Some members of both families lived in AR as well as TX. I have more data if you feel you have any pertinent information. I would greatly appreciate any info. on these family members. My father is the only living male member of his family and it ill. There are 2 sisters, Mary Eva, not well and Sarah (Sadie). Little River County Surnames: SPEARS, HUFF, GATHRIGHT SCHIRMER. Seeking information on Joe and Ida (Huff) SPEARS. Trying to find out if they lived in Foreman in the late 1890's. Joe's brother was Wilson D. SPEARS. Ida's parents. James and Francis Elizabeth HUFF are buried in the Dollarhide cemetery. Are there other HUFF's also buried at Dollarhide? Ida's sister, Lillian married W. Miles GATHRIGHT, and operated a hotel in Foreman. There was a niece that lived with them, Ethel Pauline Pyburn. Looking for CLARKS in Cleveland Township, Little River County. Great grandfather James E. CLARK b. 4/1853 in ARK, m. Mary D. Garret b. 2/1855 m. 1876. They had seven children as of the 1900 federal census: Samuel, Booker Preston (my grandfather), Roland G., Luther, Bymin M., Hergaly, and Virgi L. Trying to learn more about this family; when they came to Little River county, where from, etc. A couple (perhaps three) of the sons of James E. and Mary D. CLARK were still living in Little River county in the late 1940's. Booker Preston ended up in Wellington, TX where he and his wife, Bertha Ellen HARRIS had at least nine children. Researching the family of Joseph Loudon ABERNATHY of Evening Shade (Sharpe Co) and Ashdown (Little River) counties. Joseph was a lawyer in Evening Shade for many years. His 2nd wife was Jennie Monger Shaver. His daughter Allie Jean married John Bell McCaleb. His dau Ethel (Effie) married #1 Robert Huddleston #2 WO Sims. In his old age Joseph moved to Little River Co to live with Effie Sims. He died there in 1909 and is interred in the ASHDOWN CEMETERY. I am searching for info on the family of NIXON (NIX) HADLOCK who was born in 1828 in Ark. In 1850 he was living in Perry Co. with his mother TERRY or JENNY. In 1860 he was living in Bently Twsp.(Perryville Post Office), Perry Co. with wife MELISSA ?HOLFORD?. In 1870 he lived at Pettite Jean, Perry Co. with wife SARAH J. ?CAMPBELL? and children JAMES D.9, ANDERSON 2, and MARTHA E.3mo. There were also MARY A.16, LAURI E.14, and WILLIAM D.6 CROWDER who probably were Sarah J.'s kids. In 1880 he lived in Higgins Twsp., Conway Co. with Sarah J.and children James D., Martha E., J.N. 8, BENNIE S.5, L.E. 4 Hadlock and William D. Crowder. My Grandparents, Clarence Herbert WEST b. abt 1869 and his wife Rachael Olive BURKE b. about 1881(went by Ollie or Florence) had their first child: Curtis Westley WEST on June 22, 1900 in Foreman, Arkansas.
