Previously, a correspondent for the Arkansas Gazette newspaper in Little Rock, in conjunction with the White River Journal newspaper in Des Arc, put together a "History of Des Arc". This is a small excerpt from that work containing information on the Oak Grove Cemetery.
" and here, close by the banks of the clear river, the wash of those waves is melodious with the sounds of its mountain home, there is a little city of mounds and marble shafts, and monumental urns, faithfully attended by loving hands, and bright with flowers that fade and bloom again ... the proud, hospitable people of Des Arc need no eulogium."
This old cemetery is no longer active. Some entries included in this book were compiled by the above correspondent and David W. Bizzell in March of 1956.
Note: This cemetery has been nominated for|
the National Register of Historic Places. It goes
before the review committee in March 2001
