The first Peabody School was a four-room frame school at the corner of N. 15th and No. D streets.
This photo is of the building built in 1905 that replaced the one on N. 15th.

The public schools open with Professor N.P Gates as superintendent, T.W. Mosely
as principal of the grammar department, and Misses Farrow, Cox, Evans, Sparks,
Cravens and Hite as teachers of the intermediate and primary departments of
Belle Grove and Peabody.
