NA FCTIMES 7-14-1911 The Pension Board of this county, composed of Judge J.R.Beasley, chairman; Mr.Sam F.Sulcer and Mr.Dan Wylds met in regular session at the court house and conferred full pensions of $100 per year for Messrs.John R.Brown, Samuel Dempsey, Thos.A.Hughes, and Mrs. Susan Colbert Blalock. They also approved an increase for G.H.Johnson, John J.Ables, and Mrs.H.C.Britton for full amount, and for an artificial limb for Prof.Geo.L.Jackson, and we hope the State board will approves these right and proper decisions.
CIVIL JACKSON GEORGE L. PROF. NA FCTIMES BIO: Prof.George L.Jackson was born in Alabama, at an early age of fifteen years he entered the Confederate Army, March 1861, and was terribly wounded in a battle around Atlanta, losing a leg thereby. The Professor came to Arkansas in 1877, and since that time has been teaching school, many of his old pupils still being in the county, merchants and farmers, living examples of his abiltiy as a scholar. The Professor has always been identified with the democratic party, and has never asked for favors of it until now, when he comes to the front and asks for support as a candidate for Treasurer of the County. 10-23-1903
