GARDNER, Helen

Helen Marie Gardner, age 62, of Wilmar, died October 18, 2001, at Jefferson 
Regional Medical Center.

She was born February 23, 1939, the daughter of the late Henry and Norman Clifton.

Survivors include her husband, Winston Gardner, 2 daughters, Mahavis Fletcher 
(Keith) and Rozene Gardner, 4 sons, Michael Gardner, Calven Gardner, Terry 
Gardner and Norman Gardner, one sister, Rose Grays; 4 brothers, James Clifton, 
Adrian Clifton, Lerone Clifton, and Lloyd Clifton; 9 grandchildren; nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends.

Funeral services were Tuesday, October 23, 2001, at Power House Church of God
in Christ in Warren with Rev. John Talley officiating.

Burial was in Wilmar Cemetery by Hammons Funeral Home of Warren.


GILLIAM, Lawrence Dean

Lawrence Dean Gilliam, age 47, of Los Angeles, CA, died Sunday, December 27, 1998,
in Los Angeles.

Known to many as 'Larry', he was the second son born to the late Otis Gilliam and 
Birdie Lee Gilliam on March 27, 1951, in Warren.

Rev. Gilliam began his early education in Warren and was a member of Mt. Carmel
Baptist Church in Harrell.  In 1962, his family moved to Los Angeles.  He attended 
South Park Elementary, Bret Hart Jr. High and graduated with honors in 1969 from 
John C. Freemont High School where he served as president of the student body.  
He received a full scholarship of Loyola Marymount University and had a long career
as a real estate agent and opened his own business in 1996.

He entered the ministry in 1997 and was actively involved in the ministry at New 
Bethel Missionary Baptist Chruch where he had recently been appointed Chairman
of the Ministerial Staff.  He was also a member of the Los Angeles Minister 
Conference.  He established the New Life in Christ Ministeries which offered 
many services including prayer, food, bible classes and counceling.

He served many organizations and was a delegate to the Evangelical Lutheran 
Church of America, and served five years on the Board of Directors of Pacific 
Lutheran Theology Seminary and was a mentor for the 'At Risk Youth Rites of 
Passage Program.'

Survivors include his wife, Felicia Gilliam; three sons, Lawrence D. Gilliam Jr., 
Lamar Gilliam, Marcus Gilliam and Lance Marcel Gilliam; his mother, Birdie Lee
Golden; a grandmother, Odessa Jones; one sister, Birdie G. Martin (Marion); 
three nieces, Ebony, Sheena Martin and LaKeisha Dion Lewis; half-sisters, 
Elizabeth Wells and Ruthie Jean Lewis; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held at New Bethel Baptist Chruch on Saturday, 
January 2, 1999, at 10:00 a.m.

Rev. Frank James Watson officiated.  The Eulogy was delivered by Dr. Raymond
LeBlanc, Pastor of First Lutheran Church of Carson, CA.

Active pallbearers were Tom McKee, Randall Foster, Bill Williams, Allen Jackson,
Clyde Sparrow and Shawn Sadjutumweadee.

Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park, East Los Angeles by Simpson Family 
Mortuary, Inglewood, CA.

(Note, the paper mentions 3 sons, but I count 4,  Lawrence D., Lamar, Marcus and Lance).


GRANT, Mollie

Mollie Grant, age 88, of Hampton, died Friday, October 15, 1993, at Hampton Nursing Home 
in Hampton.

Born October 17, 1904 in Calhoun County, she was a daughter of the late Oneslo Morris and 
Maggie Williams Wisinger. She was a homemaker, a member of Hampton United Methodist 
Church and the widow of J.W. Grant who died May 4, 1973.

They were united in marriage March 6, 1929.

Surviving is a sister Lucille Misenheimer of Hampton.

Funeral services were held Sunday, October 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Hampton United Methodist 
Church with Rev. Harold Handford officiating.

Special music was provided by the Hampton Gospel Singers.

Burial was in Pickett Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren.


HAMMOCK, "Jamie" W.

James "Jamie" Wesley Hammock, age 62, died February 2, 1999, in the Beverly Rehabilitation
Center in Warren.

He was born June 21, 1936, the son of the late Law and Gussie Harris Hammock in Collins, AR.

Survivors include his ex-wife, Georgia Jones Hammock of Wilmar; two sons: Ernest Ray of 
Detroit, MI and Steven Wayne (Billie) of Lawton, OK; one daughter, Stephanie Layne (Willie) 
of Jackson, MI; one stepson, Garry (Anne) of Atlanta, GA; three brothers; John Alex of 
Monticello, John Wesley (Helen), A.D. (Mattie) of Wilmar; four sisters: Mayola McCoy, Alma
Barnett of Warren, Rachel Woodard, Lou Griffen of Wilmar, seven grandchildren; Lakeisha,
Markell, Moneisha, Rashad, Shi Anthony, Shamekia, Earneisha; one step grandson, Evan; two
great granchildren, Christopher and Jakaria; a very close friend, Sam Bardley, and a host of 
nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 6, at 2:00 p.m. at Greater Shady Grove A.M.E.
Church in Wilmar.

Rev. Gwain Hammock officiated along with Rev. L.V. Tolefree and Rev. Johnny Johnson.

Burial was in Wilmar Cemetery by Hammons Funeral Home.


HAMPTON, Charley

Charley Dean "Buck" Hampton, age 53, of Warren, died January 20, 2003, at the Bradley 
County Medical Center.

He was born April 6, 1949, the son of Ella B. Hampton and the late Willie M. Hampton.

Survivors include his mother, Ella Hampton of Johnsville; his children, LaKeshia (Mark) 
Davis and Charley Dean Hampton, Jr., and their mother, Geraldine Hampton, all of Warren;
his companion, Linda Sue Miller and son, Mark Miller, both of Warren; four brothers, 
Willie Floyd and Elgin, both of Johnsville, Jessie James (Carla) of Warren, and Christopher
(Carolyn) of Little Rock; four sisters, Ella Webb, Rosemary Hampton and Patricia (Charlie)
Williams, all of Warren, and Janice (Dennis) Cook of Little Rock; three grandchildren, 
Alonzo Hampton, Destiny Hampton and Xavier Butler; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, January 25, 2003, at Antioch Baptist Church in 
Johnsville with Rev. John Phillips officiating.  Burial was in Antioch Cemetery by 
Hammons Funeral Home.


HAMPTON, Terry Lamar

Terry Lamar Hampton, age 31, of Warren, died Monday, January 8, 2001, at the Bradley 
County Medical Center.

He was a press operator for Georgia Pacific.

Survivors include his wife, Gennie Hampton of Warren; one son, Terrez Lamar Hampton 
of Warren; one daughter, Arrieone Rawdan Wilson of Warren; his parents, Alfredia and 
Vera Hampton of Johnsville; three sisters, Felecia Gray of Warren, TaKeisha Hampton 
of Conway and Sandra Hines of Milwaukee, WI; and two brothers, Briant Hampton and
Torey Hampton, both of Warren.

Funeral services were Saturday, January 13, at Hampton Chapel A.M.E. Chruch in 
Johnsville with Rev. DeWayne Hammock officiating.  Burial was in Antioch Cemetery 
by Reddick Funeral Home.


HARDAWAY, Willie Mae

Willie Mae Hardaway, age 90, died March 1, 2001, at St. Vincent Medical Center.

She was born February 19, 1911, the daughter of the late Henrietta (Green) Carr and 
Paul McCray.

Survivors include one daughter, Alice Thompson, Warren; two sons, James (Erma) 
Lewis, Wilmar and William (Andrea) Lewis, Fresno, CA; tow brothers, Jessie Lamb, 
Pine Bluff, and Rick Jordan, Monticello; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Lamb and Lorraine
Jordan; 32 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; 
other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 10, at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist
Chruch in Warren.

Burial was in Bethel Cemetery, Wilmar, by Hammons Funeral Home.


HARRIS, Angela

Angela Tate Harris, age 31, of Little Rock, died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at University 
of Arkansas Medical Center.  She was born December 23, 1970.

Survivors include her parents, Gary and Virginia Diane Tate (Ronnie Henderson); one
daughter, Tiffany; one son, Kendrick; 3 brothers, Gary Tate, Jr., Ronold Henderson
and Quan Henderson; one sister, Jamie Henderson; grandparents, Mae E. Tate,Alice
Henderson and Jessie Mae Williams; 11 aunts; ;7 Uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Mt. Carmel Baptist 
Church with Rev. Eddie Hampton, Sr., officiating.  Eulogy will be by Pastor James 
Johnson.  Burial will be in El Bethel Cemetery by Hammons Funeral Home.


HARRIS, Shirley

Shirley Dean Harris, age 48, of Warren, died January 8, 2001, at the Bradley County 
Memorial Hospital.

She was born September 17, 1952, in Warren, the daughter of the late Corene Russell
and Earnest Dean Russell.

Survivors include one brother, Tony Russell; 4 children, Sandra R. Harris, Bobby R. 
Harris (Mindy), Sharon D Harris and Katherine A. Harris; f4 grandchildren, Antwain
L. Harris, Shanterica M. Harris, Roderick C. Hines and Alajah M. Harris; nieces and
nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 13, at the Holy Deliverance Church of
God in Christ with Elder Ulysses Hegler officiating.

Burial was in Marsden Cemetery by Hammons Funeral Home.


HAYES, Jean McCoy

Marian Jean McCoy Hayes, age 73, died Thurdsay, July 26, 2001.

She was born October 27, 1927 in Warren, the daughter of Columbus and Edith 
Fudge McCoy.

She married Jessie Hayes of Warren and the union lasted ten years, her husband 
preceded her in death.

She received her early education at Rosenwald Elementary and Bradley County 
Training School in Warren.  She graduated from AM&N College (now UAPB) in
Pine Bluff.  Her further training was done in Little Rock in Early Childhood
Education.

She was employed at Bradley Elementary in Warren; Vick Elementary in Vick; 
Hermitage Public Schools; Coahoma Junior College at Clarksdale, Mississippi;
Dermott Elementary School; Economic Ipportunity Agency of Pulaski County
Day Care Center, Little Rock; Urban League of Little Rock Day Care Center;
and retired from the Community Organization for Proverty Elimination of Plaski
and Loanoke Counties.

She recently rededicated her life to Christ at St. John Missionary Baptist Chruch
in Little Rock.  Jean lived a rich and full life and was loved and respected as 
an educator.

Survivors include a sister, Madora Hall (Lester) of Fresno, CA; nieces, Gwen
Warren Turner and B. Ilaine Hall, both of Fresno, CA; nephews, Ray Hall (Lori) 
of Modesto, CA, and L. Vincent Hall of Los Angeles, CA; great-nephews and nieces;
step-son, Larry Hayes of Warren; god-daughter, Mary Whitaker of Maumelle, AR;
and a special friend, Billie Corruthers and her family, Diane and Tina Smalley, both
of Upsilanti, MI; Kathryn Fitzhuge (Dewey and Erica); Garry Corruthers (Donna,
Little Gary); and Jerry Coruthers (Valencia and Sean), all of Little Rock; and a 
host of friends and students.

Funeral services were Wednesday, August 1, 2001, at Dubisson Funeral Home 
Chapel in Little Rock with Rev. Gary Noble officiating.

Active pallbearers were Clarence Childs, Maxie Alexander, Q. Dallas Whitaker, 
Willie Boon, Jerry Corruthers, Willie Guiden, Walter Jones and Finor Cunningham.

Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Staggers and Garry Corruthers.

Intermet was in Roselawn Cemetery in Little Rock by Dubison Funeral Home.


HINES, Boyce

Boycie L. Hines, age 87, of Marsden, died June 24, 2001, at Bradley County
Medical Center.

She was born January 8, 1914, the daughter of the late Mary and Peter Thomas.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Weary Rest Baptist Church Missionary
Auxiliary.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Mary Childs (Sarge) and Willia Payne (John) of 
Connecticut; 3 sisters, Alice Henderson of Warren, Ira Turner and Ora Ware 
of Connecticut; one brother, Samuel Thomas (Lois) of Connecticut; 3 step-children,
Mable Allison and Avestine Allison, both of Detroit, MI and Hester Jones of 
Hermitage; grandchildren and step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step
great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren
great great great grandchildren and step great great great grandchildren, nieces,
nephews, other relitives and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, June 20, 2001, at Weary Rest Baptist Church in
Marsden with Rev. Robert K. Cunningham officiating.

Burial was in the Weary Rest Cemetery by Hammons Funeral Home.


HUDSON, Isiah

Isiah Hudson, age 77, of Warren, died September 16, 2001, at Bradley County 
Medical Center.

He was born October 31, 1923, in Parkdale, the son of the late Jim and Mary Hudson.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Ella Hudson; 3 daughters, Lorrain Hudson
Malone, Memphis, TN, Marzlaryne Cranford, Kingsland and Essie Courtney, Little Rock;
2 sons, Riley Hudson, Warren and Leonard Hudson, Killeen, TX; 13 grandchildren, two
of which he raised as his own, Amadi Dingba, Shreveport, LA and Mariah Dingba, Warren;
4 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Mary Lee Blueford, Altadena, CA; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2001, at Union Hill Baptist
Church.  Burial will be in Union Cemetery by Hammons Funeral Home.
