Martha Vera Ellen Shairrick Clemons, 94, of Thornton died Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Dallas County Medical Center in Fordyce. She was born December 5, 1913 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ewen Shairrick and Lottie Ballinger Shairrick; her husband, Roy Edward Clemons; one brother, Monroe Shairrick, one sister, Zera Lee Quarles and one grandson, Eric Eugene Gansky. She is survived by two sons, Glen Edward Clemons of Tyler, TX and James Collins Clemons of Pine Bluff; three daughters, Frances Clemons and Joan Tyler of Fordyce and Jean Long of Sheridan; two brothers, J.T. Shairrick of El Dorado and Clifton Shairrick of New Caney, TX; one sister, Zelpha Grasty of Thornton; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday 6pm until 8pm at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Graveside services will be 11:00am Wednesday at Stoney Point Cemetery near Fordyce.
