Oveditha Riggan Overton

Oveditha Riggan Overton, age 85 of Malvern, died Friday March 6, 2009, in the Hot Spring County Medical Center. She was born on June 15, 1923 in Theil, (Grant County) Arkansas to the late Hubert Homer and Idell Fitzhugh Riggan. She was reared and educated in Hot Spring County and was a Baptist. Oveditha was a homemaker. She was the widow of the late William Ray Overton, to whom she was married on May 16, 1942. He preceded her in death on October 2, 2008. Oveditha was also preceded in death by two sons, William Ray Overton, Jr. and Gaylon Overton, and by a brother, Joyce Herman Riggan.
She is survived by five grandsons, William Ray “Buddy” Overton, III, Brandon Overton, Aaron Overton, Lucian Overton, and Neil Webb; and by five great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Adam, Jordan, and Gavin Overton, and Gabbi Webb.
Her funeral will be held at two o’clock Sunday afternoon in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Brothers Wesley Howard and Maxie Haynes officiating, followed by interment in Tulip Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Buddy Overton, Brandon Overton, Aaron Overton, Lucian Overton, Nicholas Overton, and Neil Webb.
Honorary pallbearers are: Dr. Bruce Burton, the staff at Malvern Nursing Home, and the nursing staff of Hot Spring County Medical Center.
The family received friends at the mortuary on Saturday evening from six until eight o’clock.
The family is headquartered at the home of Buddy Overton on Ridge Road.
