HICKS, HIGGS, SANDERS posted by Louise Asher on Sunday, September 20, 1998

I'm looking for any possible information on my family, the Sanders. They were an African-American family of sharecroppers who lived in Texarkana sometime between 1920 and 1940. My grsndfather was Tom Sanders. He may have had 2 or 3 wives, but he was married to my grandmother (Maranda /Miranda Higgs/Hicks) circa 1880 or so. Tom had 3 other families, so his name may be listed with other females. Some of the children he had with the other women were: Jack, JC, Henry, George, and Willie Sanders. The children he had with Maranda were John, Bessie, Effie, Leola, Raymond, Lutenie and Rosa Lee. Please contact me with any trace of these people, it is very important. BOLTON, EAKIN, EEDS, OWENS, SHIPP posted by Anita andRoy Arrant on Sunday, September 20, 1998

My gf Rev. D. W. BOLTON was pastor of the Sylverino Baptist Church, Fouke AR from 1909 to possibly 1914. His wife's name was Electa Florence. They had children A G, J C, B B , O T and the last child, L Z, could have been born in the Fouke area as her birth date was 1911. I would like to know what church they went to from Fouke. And, if anyone has old pictures or of this family,I would love to make copies. Also looking for burial sites of D W's father and mother, James K. BOLTON and Elle E (or Ella E.) BOLTON. They died in 1922 and 1923. I feel they may be buried in the Miller Co. area. If anyone has any old church records listng J K or Ella it would help so much to have them. D W's sister, Mattie EEDS, husband Bill, son Paul, and a daughter are buried in the Sylverino Cemetery, but I did not see any Bolton's. D W and Electa Florence are buried in the Memorial Gardens in Texarkana. O T married Nora Ilene SHIPP from Fouke in 1934. He was also a preacher. B B married an OWENS and L Z married an EAKIN and lived in Texarkana AR. My father A G lived in Huttig, AR.
