Begum Cemetery

Located on Walter Brock Farm.
According to oral history, an old church(name now forgotten), was located across the road from the cemetery. It is now grown up and apparently has not been used for a very LONG time. In the cemetery, along with those markers who have 44names on them, are several "rock" markers.

Go south on highway 45 out of Hackett, Arkansas..about 2.7 miles, then turn to the right on the second dirt road. Now go approximately 6.5 miles., now turn left and go approximately .8 of a mile. The cemetery is on the north side of the road and is back under some VERY large cedar tree.

Here is the list that still remains: These names were collected by Barbara Ann Johnson Wilbur on the 23rd day of May 1981 and submitted by Deborah Musgrove in 2008

All Photos and additional listings with * submitted by Richard Meador in 2008

This cemetery is so densely overgrown that the only way to locate some of the graves is to prod into the ground with a tire iron and then dig them up from under 2-3" of dirt. There are only 2 left standing up-right and I'm sure there are more buried beneath the ground and vines. rm - 11/03/08

Family info in italics from Lynn Risener 2008 - any information I have is posted here....these are not my ancestors. This research has been done trying to determine who created this cemetery.
(earliest marked grave appears to be about 1877, Mary Fields Sanders)

This is part of two large graves built up on top of the ground, with rocks cemented together with the old type of mud. A large flat rock is on top, with dirt filled in. These graves have been vandelized.
They have always been described in earlier transcriptions as unknown graves. With this photo in 2008 they have been identified.
