DAVIS, HARRIS, KING, PARKER posted by William R. King, Jr. on Wednesday, March 4, 1998

Calhoun County about 1850, near old community of Artesian. Searching for parents of my great grandmother, Catherine Caroline DAVIS (1847-1914), born unknown in Ark - died on farm South of Artesian in Fayette Township. Buried in Old Moody Cemetery (abandoned). Catherine (aka-Kate) first married a HARRIS (date unknown). Had a daughter, Sallie HARRIS (born about 1869 - died in December 1898 following birth of my father). Sally first married George W. PARKER in Calhoun Co on 17 Jan. 1886. At least two PARKER sons - Thomas, born about 1890; and Robert, born about 1892. Sallie HARRIS PARKER married my grandfather, Arthur Edward KING (1879-Ark) in Calhoun CO on 28 Feb. 1898. My dad was born December 13, 1898 in Calhoun Co. Sallie is said to have died from childbirth complications. Actual date of death and place of burial is unknown. Seeking information on the DAVIS & HARRIS ancestor families. Also searching for information on younger Robert PARKER, who was mentioned in the will of Catherine Caroline DAVIS HARRIS KING in 1914. Kate's second husband was William R. KING (1852-1890), also buried at Moody Cemetery. Kate & William R. KING were married in Calhoun Co on 5 Jan. 1882. Evidently, Thomas had died prior to Kate's 1914 death in Calhoun Co as he is not mentioned. Believe Robert PARKER could have married a Lambert girl from Fayette Township, but not proven. I am member of Ouachita- Calhoun Genealogical Society, will greatly appreciate any new information. Thanks.
