LEWALLEN / MCCRACKEN CLAN

Dividing Line

This family takes a bit of sorting out to understand.

    The Widow: Emily Angeline Allen was born 26 Mar 1861 Marion Co AR to John Allen & Emeline Gibson. The Allen's moved to White River township sometime between 1850-1860 from Carrol Co. Emily married Charlie Lewallen the son of Joseph Lewallen & Elizabeth Due on 25 Dec 1876 at her home on Lee's Mountain. They settled in Flippin and had 5 children before Charlie Lewallen died 20 May 1886. John (b) 1 Nov 1877, Floyd (b) 6 Sep 1879, Will (b) 29 Dec 1881, Elsie (b) 21 Mar 1884 and Virgie (b) 18 Mar 1886 just two months before Charlie died.
    The Widower: Eli Henry McCracken (known as Henry) born 28 Aug 1854 in Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co, TN to Samuel Marion McCracken and Nancy Nipps. Henry married Isabel C "Belle" Osborn the daughter of William & Tilda Osborn about 1879. They settled at Stony Point in Jimmy's Creek township. Belle died 8 Feb 1888 two weeks after giving birth to the youngest of their five children (Hattie). Henry & Belle's children were: Mary (b) Oct 1879, Sarah (b) 6 Nov 1881, Aaron (b) 16 Dec 1883, Ida (b) abt 1884 (died as an infant) and Hattie (b) Jan 1886.
    The Widow and the Widower married 18 Nov 1888 at Emily's home in Flippen and began married life with nine children. The following children were born to Emily and Henry while in Marion Co. Lee Jewel (b) 6 Aug 1888 and Francis Marion (b) 27 Jul 1891.
    In the early part of 1892 the clan moved to Indian Territory to join John Lewallen (the son of Emily & Charlie Lewallen). After their arrival in Indian Territory the following children were born to Henry and Emily: Pearl (b) 9 Oct 1893, James Ira (b) 25 Oct 1895 (died as an infant), Lucy (b) 4 July 1897, Dossie (b) 8 Jan 1900, Lena (b) 21 Apr 1902 and Azza Jane (b) 31 Dec 1904.

The note on the back of the photo says that Will Lewallen was not in the picture. (As a side note - Aaron McCracken married Fannie White and Virgie Lewallen married Fannie's brother Dan making Aaron & Virgie not only step-siblings but brother & sister in-laws)
