MARION COUNTY AR
Abstracts of Estray Records

Transcribing old records represents many hours of hard work. Please respect the work of the transcriber. Feel free to use this information in your personal research records. Do not copy the content for any other use or place this content on any webpage/website. If you want to use this information please link to this page.

The following Estray Notices were recorded in a small ledger book called "Notice of Estrays." Estray notices were filed when someone found an animal wandering loose. By filing an Estray notice the finder could claim a "finders" fee or keep the animal, after a certain period of time, if the owner did not claim the animal.

The first page is missing from the book and pages 2-16 were used to record the 1892 Probate Court Docket. Estray notices begin on page 17.

As with all these old documents the clerk's handwriting leaves a lot to be desired. If you find spelling errors please let me know. Thanks Linda (email at bottom of page)
