Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of October 9, 2003 issue: Betty REED MCKINNEY of White Hall, Arkansas and formerly of Flippin, Arkansas died Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was 76. Mrs. REED was born December 6, 1926 at Flippin, Arkansas to William McKinley and Arlie GOODEN REED. On March 22, 1952, she married Mr. MCKINNEY. She was a retired secretary for the Pine Bluff Arsenal in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was a member of the White Hall Baptist Church and a charter member of the Flippin First Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of White Hall, AR; a son and his wife of White Hall, AR; daughters, one of White Hall, AR, one of Leawood, KS and one of Sumter, SC; sisters, one of Little Rock, AR and one of Mountain Home, AR; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Her brother, Gordon REED, preceded her in death. Visitation was held Sunday, October 5, 2003 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, AR. Funeral services were held Monday, October 6, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Flippin First Church in Flippin, AR with Brother Steve MARTIN officiating. Burial followed in the Flippin Cemetery with pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas (870) 449-6621.

Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of October 9, 2003 issue: Quintelle COLE of Yellville has been notified of the sudden death of her nephew, Keith KAMMAYER of Arlington, Texas on Thursday, October 2, 2003. Keith was a 1973 graduate of Yellville-Summit School. At the time of his death, Keith was 48 years old. His family includes his parents of Richardson, TX; two sisters,one of Allen, TX and one of Round Rock, TX; and the children of his late brother, Robert Lynn KAMMEYER, Sacremento, CA. A memorial service is being held in Richardson, TX on Saturday morning, October 11. Keith leaves behind other loving relatives and many friends in this area.

Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of October 16, 2003 issue: Bob J. KEETER of Brookline, Missouri passed away Friday, October 10, 2003 at Magnolia Square from complications of diabetes. He was born in Flippin, Arkansas on June 6, 1931. He was the son of G.B. and Nancy KEETER who preceded him in death. Three sisters preceded him in death - Eathel MORRIS, LaRue BRIGGS, and Georgia WOOD. Surviving siblings, one of Pyatt, Arkansas, one of MeGehee, Arkansas, one of Yellville, Arkansas, and one of Spokane, Washington. He is survived by his wife and their two children and by his former wife and their two children. He is also survived by four grandchildren. Other survivors include numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and their families. Bob graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a degree in Mathematics. He served four years active duty in the U.S. Air Force during which time he obtained certification in Meteorology at St. Louis University. Upon his discharge with the rank of captain, he attended law school at the University of Missouri at Columbia. He moved to Springfield, Missouri in 1960 and began his career in law. After practicing law for 28 years, he was elected Associate Circuit Court Judge in Greene County, where he served until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Greene County Bar Association, Missouri Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, served on the board of editors of Missouri Law Review, belonged to Kiwanis Club, Solomon Lodge, and Abou Ben Addam Shrine. Bob was a devoted Christian who had taught Sunday school since the age of 17. He was an Elder Emeritus at South Street Christian Church. He enjoyed farming, gardening, family, and visiting with nearly everyone he met. Visitation is planned for Monday, October 13, 2003 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on East Seminole. Services will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at South Street Christian Church, 500 South Avenue, Springfield, followed by burial with full military honors in Brookline Cemetery. Other memorials may be made to South Street Christian Church or the American Diabetes Association. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of October 16, 2003 issue: Sidney Garfield RAGLAND of Harrison, Arkansas died Sunday, October 12, 2003 at Harrison. He was 69. Mr. RAGLAND was born December 20, 1933 at Tilly, Arkansas to Walter Cephis and Lessie BRIDGES RAGLAND. Mr. RAGLAND graduated from Valley Springs High School in 1953 where he picked up a talent and love for the game of basketball. He started winning state tournaments in 1949 as an Eighth Grader and also won three state championships in high school for Valley Springs. After graduating from high school, he played his way through college at ATU and UA at Monticello graduating in 1957. His love of basketball took him into a successful career as a coach in several area schools with over 800 senior high victories. Among these victories was a state championship while coaching at Pyatt in 1968. In 1959, he married Sylvia COLE in Harrison and they were blessed with three children and five grandchildren. Mr. RAGLAND retired from coaching in 1969 and enjoyed time with his family, collecting and refinishing antiques, fishing and gardening. He was a born again Christian and a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, of the home; son and daughter-in-law of El Paso, TX; daughter of Harrison, AR; daughter and son-in-law of Perry, OK; a brother of St. Joe, AR; a sister of Harrison, AR; grandchildren of Harrison, AR, and of El Paso, TX and of Perry, OK. Visitation was held Tuesday, October 14, 2003 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Christeson Funeral Home in Harrison. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at Christeson Funeral Home in Harrison with Reverend Terry EDDINGS officiating. Burial followed in Maplewood Cemetery with pallbearers and honorary pallbearers included all athletes, coaches and everyone who loved the game. Harrison Daily Times October 15, 2003 issue: Ray Leon WALLACE, 58, of Harrison died Tuesday, Oct. 14 (2003) at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16 at Cattlemen's Livestock Auction on Highway 65 North in Harrison with Rev. Carroll "Curly" JOHNSON officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15 at Christeson Funeral Home. The family will have dinner at the Cattlemen's Livestock Restaurant preceding [should have read following] the funeral service. Burial will be in George's Creek Cemetery [Marion County, AR] with pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Education for Youth in Agriculture through [the] First National Bank of Green Forest. The son of Bill and Flossie YOCHAM WALLACE he was born Jan. 22, 1945 in Peel [Marion Co., AR]. He had been a resident of Boone County for 19 years and a prior resident of Missouri and Louisiana and was a native of Yellville in Marion County. He was owner and auctioneer of Cattlemen's Livestock Auction. He was runner-up champion in 1976 of the World Auctioneer contest. He was a member of and served on the Board of Directors of Arkansas Beef Council and was a supporter of the area vo-ag program. He loved hunting, fishing, horses and mules and was recognized by The Daily Times as one of the area's most influential people this year. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joe Bill and O. G. [Otis Grant] WALLACE. He is survived by his wife of the home; a son of Highlandville, MO.; four daughters, one of Kansas City, MO; two of Harrison and one step-daughter of Harrison; two sisters, both of Yellville; two brothers, both of Yellville; three grandchildren; and lots of nieces and nephews. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of October 16, 2003 issue: William Lee MORRIS of Yellville, Arkansas died Friday, October 17, 2003 at his residence in Yellville. He was 70 years old. Mr. MORRIS was born December 19, 1932 at Oak Harbor, Washington to Ray M., Sr. and Mary Ella ANDERSON MORRIS. He was a retired journeyman machinist for Aeronautics Co. Mr. MORRIS moved to Marion County in 1983. He was a member of the NRA. Survivors include his daughter of Yellville, AR; two grandchildren of Yellville, AR; and one great-grandchild. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of October 30, 2003 issue: Mary Elizabeth BLACKWOOD died Tuesday, October 21, at her home in Flippin, Arkansas. She was 94. Mrs. BLACKWOOD was born May 10, 1909 at Hillsboro, Texas to F.M. and Eliza Ann LARKEY HILTON. On March 5, 1943, she married A.M. BLACKWOOD. She retired from the grocery business in New Mexico and was a retired elementary school teacher. She has resided in Flippin since September of 1999. She was a member of the Rea Valley Baptist Church in Flippin, a graduate of Hillsboro High School and Junior College and received a BS Degree from Daniel Baker College. She resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico for 37 years then moved to Dimmitt, Texas. Survivors include her niece of Flippin, AR. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, A.M. BLACKWOOD and her parents. No visitation was scheduled. Graveside services were held on Friday, October 24, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro, Texas. Mr. CLIFT was born July 20, 1979 at Salinas, California. He was employed as a Communications Technician for Eastern Communication, Inc. in Saca, Maine. He was a member of the Church on the Rock in Yellville and a 1998 Yellville-Summit High School graduate. Formerly of Riverside, California, he had been a resident of Yellville since 1985. Survivors include his parents of Yellville, AR; sister and her husband, of Little Rock, AR; his grandmother of Sebastopol, CA; one Aunt of Sebastopol, CA, one Aunt of Duarte, CA and one Aunt of Marino Valley, CA; and uncle of Anacortes, WA. Visitation was held Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at Burns Funeral Home Chapel in Yellville. She was 60 years old. Mrs. GILBERT was born October 1, 1943 at Laurel, Mississippi. Mrs. GILBERT was the owner of Sportsman's Resort in Flippin, Arkansas. She was a Catholic and had been a resident of Flippin since April of 2001 having moved to Flippin from Houma, Louisiana. Survivors include her husband of Flippin, AR; a son; her parents, of Donaldsonville, Louisiana; five sisters, and two grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, October 31, 2002 at the Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville, LA. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 1, 2003 at the Ascension Catholic Church in Donaldsonville, AR. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery in Donaldsonville, AR. Mrs. HICKEY was born July 22, 1914 at Bruno, Arkansas the daughter of George and Mary PARKER MCENTIRE. On June 3, 1933, she married Arthur HICKEY. She was a housewife and homemaker. Mrs. HICKEY was a lifetime member of Marion County and a member of the Yellville Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her son of Yellville, AR; daughter of Yellville, AR; three sisters, one of Oklahoma, one of Pyatt, AR and one of Harrison, AR; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Her parents, George and Mary MCENTIRE; husband, Arthur HICKEY; son, George HICKEY; three sisters, Faye GAMES, Alena VAUGHN, and Odessia TRUEBLOOD; and four brothers, E.G. MCENTIRE, Ernie MCENTIRE, Columbus MCENTIRE and Harvey MCENTIRE, preceded her in death. Visitation was held Friday, October 31, 2003 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 1, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the Yellville Missionary Baptist Church in Yellville with Brother W.C. REED and Brother Carl CRAVENS officiating. Burial followed in George's Creek Cemetery with with pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were her doctors, nurses and friends. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis, TN.
