Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of August 10, 2006 issue: Clarence GROSSE, age 81 of Bull Shoals, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at his home in Bull Shoals. Mr. GROSSE was born on February 25, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a the son of the late Charles and Hilda (SCHOBER) GROSSE. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the United Church of Christ. Survivors include his brother of Mesa, AZ; and a sister of St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Julie; and brother, Vernon. A memorial service will be held at a later date by his friends and family. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of August 10, 2006 issue: Velma B. HENLEY of Flippin, Arkansas died Saturday, August 5, 2006 at her residence. She was 80 years old. Mrs. HENLEY was born February 12, 1926 at Lake City, Arkansas to Aussie and Onie EAVES. She was married on October 7 1945 at Lake City, Arkansas. She was a homemaker, who enjoyed attending church, shopping, cooking, gardening, her family and animals. Formerly of Chicago, she moved to Flippin, Arkansas in 1978. She was a Baptist by faith. Survivors include her husband; two sons and their wives of Flippin, AR; five grandchildren of Flippin, AR; three great-grandchildren of Flippin, AR; a sister of Bull Shoals, AR; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents and three sisters preceded her in death. Visitation was held Tuesday, August 8, 2006 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Baxter County Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service was held at the Summit Sovereign Grace Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. on August 9, 2006 with Pastor David Butler officiating. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery with pallbearers. Arrangements were under the direction of Baxter County Funeral Home and Cremation Society in Mountain Home, Arkansas (870) 425-2454.

Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of August 10, 2006 issue: Leslie M. GEBBY, age 89, of Peel, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2006 in the Marion County Nursing Home in Yellville, Arkansas. Mr. GEBBY was born at Richland, Ohio on September 8, 1916. He was the son of the late Martin Clempson and Cleta May (MURPHY) GEBBY. Mr. GEBBY was a retired job setter for General Motors. He served his country in the United States Army in WWII. He lived in the area since 1971. Survivors include is wife of Peel, AR; on son of Massillion, OH; one daughter of Dayton, OH, and four grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death. There will be no local services or visitation. Graveside services will be scheduled later by Gebhart-Schmidt Funeral Home in Miamisburg, Ohio Interment will be at Miami Valley Memroial Gardens in Centerville, Ohio. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of August 17, 2006 issue: Michael Wayne SPURLOCK, age 49, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2006 at the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born in Spokane, Washington on July the 27, 1957. He was the son of the late Fred and Phyllis (JOHNSON) SPURLOCK, Sr. Mr. SPURLOCK worked in management for an environmental control company. His health forced him to retire for this type of work. He served in the United States Navy for 1974 t 1976. He was a member of the American Legion Post #61 of Yellville, Arkansas. Due to his illness, he and his wife had moved from Harrison, Arkansas to Fayetteville, Arkansas to be closer to his doctors. Survivors include his wife of Fayetteville, AR; four sons two of Harrison, AR, two of Fayetteville, AR; a daughter of Fayetteville, AR; one brothe of Downers Grove, IL and one brother of Lockport, IL; two sisters one of Hot Springs, AR and one of Apache Junction, AZ; and five grandchildren survive him to cherish his memory. Visitation was held at the Burns Funeral Home in Yellville on Monday, August 14, 2006 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Graveside services were conducted on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Georges Creek Cemetery in Yellville, Arkansas. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of August 31, 2006 issue: Edna M. WEETS, age 81, of Flippin, Arkansas died Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Mrs. WEETS was born April 27, 1925 at Arrowsmith, Illinois to Thomas and Elia DAUGHERTY EVANS. She was a homemaker. Mrs. WEETS had been a resident of Marion County for the past 26 years. She was a Baptist by faith and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband of Flippin, AR; three sons, two of Flippin, AR, one of Yellville, AR; two stepdaughters one of Oakdale, MN and one of San Diego, CA; a brother of Sidney, IL; and 15 grandchildren. Her parents, sister, Florence MINOR, and brother, Irvin EVANS, preceded her in death. Visitation was held Wednesday, August 23, 2006 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. it Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas. Graveside service was held Thursday, August 24, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Gayle Brooks officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Flippin, Arkansas. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of August 31, 2006 issue: John Allen MANNING, age 71, of St. Joe, Arkansas died at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Missouri on Wednesday, August 23, 2006. Mr. Manning was born at Springfield, Missouri on December 9, 1934 to Leroy and Myra CREOLA MANNING. He worked at Claridge Products for 27 years as a metal racker and was also a farmer, who enjoyed gardening and raising chickens. He was a member of the Beckham Church. Survivors include his wife of the home, two sons and their wives of Flippin, AR; one grandson of the U.S. Marine Corps; two brothers one of Tulsa OK and one of Collinsville, OK; and one sister one of Springeield, MO He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters. Visitation was held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2006. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the Pindall United Pentecostal Church with Reverend Darvin Rainbolt officiating. Burial followed in the Anderson Flat Cemetery with pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of August 31, 2006 issue: Visitation for Joyce K. ELY, 84, of Bull Shoals, Arkansas was Sunday, August 27, 2006 at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home in Bull Shoals. Joyce died August 24, 2006, at Baxter Regional Medical Center. Mrs. ELY was born January 26, 1922 at Stidham, Oklahoma, to Henry and Leoria CANTRELL FLUD. She started as a riveter at Cessna and worked her way up to secretary, working for over 35 years. She lived in Bull Shoals since 2002 moving from Urbana, Missouri. She was a strong-willed lady who loved her family, clowns and cowboys. Survivors include one daughter of Bull Shoals, AR; one son; one granddaughter; one grandson; seven great-grandchildren all of Savannah, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. Burial will be in Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Society. Arrangements are by Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home in Bull Shoals. Arrangements were under the direction of Kirby-Boaz Funeral Directors in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

CAGEL, age 61 of Summit, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain home, Arkansas. Mrs. CAGEL was born on April 28, 1945 in Sedgewick, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late Delmar and Ruby Ellen (STARNS) HUDSON. She was a retired Assistant Maintenance Supervisor for Marion County Nursing Home. She loved sewing, gardening and poker. Survivors include her husband of Summit, AR; two sons of Yellville, AR; two daughters, one of Yellville, AR and one of Bull Shoals, AR; four brothers, one of Walnut Ridge, AR, one of Rockford, IL, one of Bowling Green, MO and one of Missouri; and nine grandchildren. Her parents, brother Lawrence HUDSON, and two stepsisters preceded her in death. A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday August 26, 2006 at Peel Cemetery in Peel, Arkansas with Bro. Kevin Duffy officiating. Visitation was from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25 2006 at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the Marion County Nursing Home. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of August 31, 2006 issue: Barbara Ann BIELICKI, age 65, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away at the Hospice House on August 25, 2006. Services and burial will be private. Mrs. BIELICKI was born June 23, 1941 at Gays Mills, Wisconsin to Kenneth M. and Elizabeth A. BROWN FOSS. She married Henry "Hank" BIELICKI on April 14, 1980 in Hammond, Indiana and lived in Farwell, Michigan until Hank died in 2004 and she moved to Mountain Home to be with her daughter, Jennifer. Mrs. BIELICKI was very appreciative of the Lakeview Lions Club and became a member of the club. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, playing video games and loved to drink Pepsi all day. She had a wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed. Survivors include her daughter of Mountain Home, AR; two grandchildren of Mountain Home, AR and one of Fredericktown, OH; five great-grandchildren; a sister of Sycamore, IL; niece and great nephew of Illinois; and stepchildren from Hank BIELICKI. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of September 7, 2006 issue: Noel Fred MCKNIGHT, 93, of Rogers, Arkansas died Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at St. Mary's Rogers Memorial Hospital. He was born July 30, 1913 in Clinton, Arkansas to C. W. and Martha CROWNOVER MCKNIGHT. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Mater Degree in Agriculture and also played on the U of A football team. He was a Veteran of WW II serving in the Army. He achieved the rank of sergeant and served with the 50th Inf. Scout Dog Platoon where he was awarded the Am. Theater Service Medal, Victory Medial and the Good Conduct Medal. He taught Agriculture at Valley Springs High School and Harrison High School and was Director of the Farmers Home Administration in Logan, County. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth MCKNIGHT Oct. 21, 1996. Survivors include his son and wife of Rogers, AR; two brothers of Clinton, AR; four sisters one of Salliesaw, OK, two of Phoenix, AZ and one of Clinton, AR; and four grandchildren. Funeral Service was held Friday September 1, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Rollins Funeral Home Chapel in Rogers with Rev. Ben Rowell, Pastor Wes George, Rev. Tommy Hinson and Reb. Jonathan Reichman officiating. Burial followed in the Nanny Cemetery in Yellville, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to Fulfilling the Mission, c/o First Baptist Church, 626 W. Olive, Rogers, AR 72756.
