Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of September 7, 2006 issue: Geneva RAY age 84 of Summit, Arkansas, formerly of Cotter, Arkansas passed away on Friday, September 1, 2006 at the Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Mrs. RAY was born in Marion County, Arkansas on December 31, 1920. She was the daughter of the late James and Laura (JONES) MARTIN. She was a lifelong resident of Baxter and Marion Counties, a member of the Cotter Church of Christ and a member of the Cotter VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include two sons and their wives, one of Summit, AR and one of Carthage, MO; a daughter of Summit, AR; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ulis Cleo RAY and brother Walter. Visitation was at Burns Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Services were conducted by Ron Davenport at Burns Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with burial in the Fairview Cemetery near Flippin with pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to the Hospice House of Mountain Home, 701 Burnett Drive, Mountain Home, Arkansas. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of September 7, 2006 issue: Dian Emily WILLIAMS, age 70, of Flippin, Arkansas died Monday, September 4, 2006 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, AR. Mrs. WILLIAMS was born November 6, 1935 in San Diego, California. She was a retired librarian. Formerly of Michigan, she was a resident of Marion County for the past 18 years. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Flippin. Survivors include her son of Michigan; two daughters one of St. Louis, MO and one of Gassville, AR; a sister of North Carolina; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Her parents; daughter, Bethanne COLLINS; sons, David and Alan WILLIAMS; and grandson, Johnathan Alan WILLIAMS, preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2006 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Flippin. No visitation is scheduled and burial will be private. He was a member of the Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Diamond City, Arkansas. CAMERON, age 67, of Yellville, Arkansas died Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Mr. Cameron was born January 31, 1939 at Tyler, Texas to George and Letha CULPEPPER CAMERON. He was the owner and operator of Captain Jack's Resort on Bull Shoals Lake. Prior to moving to Arkansas, Mr. CAMERON worked as a Geophysical Consultant in the petroleum industry. He was a member of the Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Diamond City, Arkansas. Survivors include his wife of Lead Hill, AR; two sons, one of Lead Hill, AR and one of La Jolla, CA; three daughters, one of Lead Hill, AR, one of Marfa, TX and one of Boston, MA; a sister of Saudi Arabia; and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church at Diamond City with a celebration of his life at the Monarch Club in Lead Hill starting 11:00 a.m.

Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of October 5, 2006 issue: Mabel J. PATRICK, age 89, died Tuesday, September 13, 2006, in Yellville, Arkansas. She was born in Garrett, Indiana, the daughter of Charles and Clara ZIMMERMAN and grew up there and on a small farm in Flint, Indiana. She was married to Stanley C. PATRICK, who preceded her in death, as did her brothers, Ralph, Roscoe, and George, and her sister, Ruth REYNOLDS. She spent over 50 years of her life in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Cuyahoga Falls and the Rubber Stampers. A good mother and house wife, she worked as a soda jerk, beautician, made lures for Creek Chub, was a seamstress, dental receptionist and demonstrated spinning and weaving at Hale Farm and Village. She was a volunteer for OASIS, which helped troubled kids with learning problems. A quiet person, she was a fine crafts woman who was known for her quilting, spinning and weaving, crocheting, knitting and other handwork. She loved her flower gardens, children, liked bowling, fishing and camping. In 2001, she moved near Everton, Arkansas, where she lived with her son, Bob, and daughter-in-law, Mary. She is survived by her two sons and their wives, of Everton, AR of Tyler, TX. She will be remembered by her many friends for her quiet humor and depth of character.

William Joseph SHEEHAN, age 73, of Yellville, Arkansas died Thursday, September 14, 2006, at home. He was born in Chicago in 1932 to Neil and Theresa (O'CONNOR) SHEEHAN. Mr. SHEEHAN was a veteran and moved with his family to Arkansas in 1978. After operating a restaurant for several years, he was an auto mechanic until he retired. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of September 21, 2006 issue: Services for Harry Charles MILLWOOD, Sr., 92, of Flippin, Arkansas will be private. Mr. MILLWOOD died Saturday, September 16 at his residence. Mr. MILLWOOD was born March 7, 1914, at Zanesville, Ohio, to Charles and Catherine NEAL MILLWOOD. He was an aircraft engineer for National Presto Company, a plant manager for Dana Corporation, and started T & D Journeyman. He also owned an upholstery shop in Withee, Wisconsin. He was a civil servant during WWII, training T & D apprentices. He traveled extensively during his career. Mr. MILLWOOD lived in Flippin since moving from Withee, Wisconsin, in 1990. He enjoyed gardening, especially roses and vegetables. He was of Protestant faith. Survivors include three sons, one of Eau Claire, WI; one of Flippin, AR; one of Anchorage, AK; one daughter of Flippin, AR; ten grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. NEWELL of Bruno, Arkansas will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday September 22, 2006 at the Bruno Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Dale Huskey officiating. Mrs. NEWELL died Sunday, September 17, 2006 at Baxter Regional Medical Center. She was 88. She was born May 29, 1918 at El Paso, Texas to Frank G. and Luisa SIFUENTES KAERWER. She graduated from El Paso High School and Business School. She married Henry HAY in 1941 at El Paso who preceded her in death. She then married Oliver J. NEWELL on April 10, 1971 in Ft. Worth, Texas. She worked as a metalligerical accountant for Kennecott Copper Mining and Smeltering Company. Mrs. NEWELL moved to Bruno, Arkansas in 2003 from Richardson, Texas. She attended the Bruno Baptist Church for the past three years. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, three brothers; Frank, Bob and Richard KAERWER and three sisters Laura KAERWER, Stella BROWN and Ester ASHLEY. She is survived by one daughter of Bruno, AR; two grandsons, one of Benbrook, TX and one of Katy, TX; two great grandchildren of Benbrook, TX; a brother of Abilene, TX; three sisters one of Sweetwater, TX, one of Austin, TX and one of El Paso, TX. A Committial Service will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park in El Paso, Texas at 10:30 Saturday, September 23, 2006. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. BRALLIER was born July 30, 1916 in Maynard Bend, Arkansas to James and Almeta SHIPLEY. She was a homemaker and lifetime area resident. She enjoyed sewing, flowers, gardening and quilting. Survivors include her daughter of Flippin; eight grandchildren one of Gassville one of Oakland, two of Mountain Home, one of Summit, Kaye one of Kansas, one of Texas and one of Washington; several great-grandchildren; and a brother of Missouri. Her parents, husband, two daughters, Walcie MERRILL and Ida JONES, one son, Theodore HENSLEY, four brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Mrs. DAVIS was born June 26, 1933 in Amsterdam, Holland to Arthur and Maria HENDRICH SALBBAERT. She immigrated to the United States in 1959. On March 27, 1975, she was married in south Houston, Texas where she and her husband lived until 1993 when they moved to Arkansas. Mrs. DAVIS, a product analyst for Uncle Ben's Rice before she retired, loved cooking and reading. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her husband of Yellville, AR; two sons, one of Bruno, AR and one of Cypress, TX; two grandchildren of Cypress; a brother of Isreal; twin niece and nephew of Israel; and a nephew of France. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of October 5, 2006 issue: Donald Lee REGNIER, age 79, of Flippin, Arkansas passed away on Friday, September 22, 2006 at the Marion County Nursing Home in Yellville, Arkansas. Mr. REGNIER was born in Dongola, Illinois on June 5, 1927. He was the sone of the late Walter & Marie (DERUSSEAU) REGNIER. Don was married on December 27, 1947. He was retired from the United States Navy in 1971 with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Following his retirement Don owned and operated his own Farm Equipment business. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. Survivors include his wife of Flippin, AR; a son of Watsonville, CA; his daughter of Springdale, AR; and four grandchildren. A former resident of Marion County, he was born in Eros, Arkansas November 11, 1935 to Idella (JONES) and Oral CUNNINGHAM. Mr. CUNNINGHAM was a graduate from Yellville High School and served in the United States Navy. After moving to Yakima, Washington he worked many years at the George F. Joseph fruit warehouse. He is preceded in death by his parents Idella and Oral CUNNINGHAM, his sisters Hazel STANLEY and Kate WHITNEY, and brothers Leaman CUNNINGHAM and Greg EDWARDS. Survivors include his sister of Harrison, AR; a brother, of Arizona; two nephews; two nieces; and a host of extended family and friends.

Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of September 28, 2006 issue: James P. DUKE, age 95 of the Pine Mountain area on Bull Shoals Lake passed away Monday, September 25, 2006. He was a long-time area resident, having moved to the lake area in 1977. He was born May 19, 1911 in Amory, Mississippi, to a family of three brothers and three sisters. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University with a mechanical engineering degree. He served as a lieutenant with the Coastal Artillery Service during WWII. After military service he was an engineering inspector for DuPont until his retirement in 1977. He is survived locally by his son and daughter-in-law; a daughter of Springdale; five grand-children; seven great grandchildren; and two sisters, one of Raleigh, North Carolina and one of Fort Worth, Texas. In addition to his avid gardening, he was active in the establishment of Pine Mountain Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Yellville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie LaVerne who passed away in 1976. A memorial service will held on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Yellville First Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Canary officiating. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in Columbus, Mississippi at Friendship Cemetery. Mr. SHAW was an automotive mechanic, a U.S. Navy veteran having served his country during the Vietnam War. Formerly of Alabama, he had been a resident of Yellville since 1993. Her burial was in the Yakima Cemetery on October 3rd. Ruby was born May 19, 1925, in Pyatt near Sugar Orchard to Claud and Birdie SMOTHERS. She was one of three daughters and four sons. She graduated from Pyatt High School where she was an outstanding basketball player. She moved to Yakima in 1946 and retired after many years of working at the Sundquist Fruit and Cold Storage Company. Survivors include her husband; two children; two brothers, one of Tulsa, OK; and one of Yakima, WA. She was preceded by brothers Mack, Loyd and J. C. and a sister, Velma POE.

She was a retired Elementary and Art teacher for the Charlotte School District, was owner of the Hang ups Frame Shop and was a member of the Charlotte Church of Christ. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of October 5, 2006 issue: Orville Blaine Sanders Sr., 96, of Lexington Country Place, formerly of Celia Lane in Lexington, KY and Fayetteville, AR, retired auditor for the Arkansas State Revenue Department, widower of Celia Elizabeth MIRES SANDERS, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at the Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was born Dec. 2, 1909, near Flippin in Marion County, Ark., the son of Lester Oliver and Mettie C. BRIGGS SANDERS. He was a graduate of Bruno High School and attended the University of Arkansas. Mr. SANDERS was a barber at Flippin from 1927 to 1943. From 1944 through 1945 he was in the U.S. Army, serving with the 95th Field Hospital in India, Burma and China. After returning from the war he entered politics, serving terms as Marion County assessor from 1947 through 1950 and Marion County treasurer from 1951 through 1954. In 1955 he joined the Arkansas State Revenue Department as an auditor, a position he held until his retirement in 1974. After his retirement, he returned to his first occupation and worked as a barber for several years in Fayetteville, where he resided from 1958 until he and Celia moved to Lexington in 1996. Mr. SANDERS was an avid golfer, winning his last tournament at age 80. He was also three-time National Wild Turkey Calling Champion. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge No. 117 of Yellville where he was F am A M, Past Master American Association of Retired Persons, Trinity United Methodist Church in Fayetteville where he served on the Administrative Council for several years, and United Methodist Men. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Survivors include three daughters, one of Lexington, KY, one of Woodbridge, VA, and one of Houston, TX; a son of Magnolia, TX; six granddaughters, one of El Paso, TX; five of Houston; a grandson of Houston; and two great-grandchildren of Houston. In addition to Celia Sanders, his wife of 54 years, he was preceded in death by his first wife Ruth METHVIN SANDERS, a daughter, Wilma Faye SANDERS CRAIG, four brothers and a sister.
