Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of November 9, 2006 issue: A memorial service for Philip Ernest FOURNIER, age 71, of Bull Shoals, Arkansas was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2006 at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel in Bull Shoals with Reverend Jerry Backus officiating. Military honors were by Hoevel-Barnett VFW Post #1341. Mr. FOURNIER died Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at his residence. Mr. FOURNIER was born July 2, 1935, at South Brewer, Main to Joseph and Edna Mae BAKER FOURNIER. He was married on August 6, 1956 at Durham, North Carolina. Mr. FOURNIER was a Vietnam veteran and logistical engineer in the U.S. Army. He retired as Chief Warrant Officer 4 after serving 24 years in the U.S. Army. He lived in Bull Shoals since moving from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 1977. He was an avid fisherman. Mr. FOURNIER was a former member of the Golden Knights (The Army Parachute Team). He was past President of Bull Shoals-Lakeview Rotary Club, former state Vice President of the Vietnam Veterans Association, and a life member of Hoevel-Barnett VFW Post #1341. He was of Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of Bull Shoals, AR; a one daughter of Bull Shoals, AR; one son, of Canton, NC; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Philip FOURNIER Jr. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Kidney Foundation. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of November 16, 2006 issue: Emma Lee WILKINSON born on August 7, 1926 near Peel, Arkansas, died Friday, November 10, 2006 shortly after 2:00 p.m. in her home in Harrison, Arkansas. She had been a resident of Marion County all her life until late 2005. Born the third child of Frank WILKINSON and Nora RIDLE, she was preceded in death by her parents, husband Oval WINGATE (married January 21, 1948), brother Bernard WILKINSON and an infant son. She is survived by two sisters, one of Peel, AR and one of Fayetteville, AR; one son and daughter-in-law of Green Forest, AR; two daughters, one of Mesquite, TX and one of Plano, TX; two granddaughters one of Mountain Home, AR and one of Rogers, AR; one grandson of Little Rock, AR; one great-granddaugher and two great-grandsons. Visitation was held from 2:30 to 4:40 p.m. on Sunday November 12, 2006, Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2006 at the Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas with burial in the Peel Cemetery. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of November 16, 2006 issue: Lucille TOMPKINS, age 84, of Flippin, Arkansas, died on Friday, November 10, 2006 at the Twin Lakes Nursing Center in Flippin. Mrs. TOMPKINS was born in Glenwood, Arkansas on July 5, 1922. She was the daughter of the late John Ernest and Lucy Mae (HARNED) IRWIN. She met and married L. C. "Tommy" TOMPKINS while attending secretarial school where she was aspiring to be a foreign correspondent. Mrs. TOMPKINS resided in Flippin for over 30 years and was an active member of the Flippin Christian Church. Throughout the years, Lucille took part in or headed numerous civic and charitable activities for her community. Survivors include three daughters, one of Flippin, AR, one of Memphis, TN and one of Waco, TX; a sister of Flippin, AR; a brother of Pine Bluff, AR; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, and one great-grandson. Visitation was held at the Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas on Monday, November 13, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. Services were held at the Flippin Christian Church on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Interment followed in the Flippin Cemetery. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of November 16, 2006 issue: Jim SULLIVAN, age 89, of Yellville, Arkansas died at his home on Saturday, November 11, 2006. Jim was born near Pyatt, Arkansas on October 22, 1917. He was the son of the late Leander "Bud" SULLIVAN and Lula Belle (RHOTON) SULLIVAN. Mr. SULLIVAN was a retired Director of Social Services for Marion County having worked for the Arkansas Division of Social Services from 1964 to 1982. He was a former member and deacon of the Pyatt Baptist Church, a member and deacon of the Yellville First Baptist Church. Jim served his Country during World War II in the United State Army as Medic and attained the rank of Sergeant. Mr. SULLIVAN attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and majored in agriculture. Jim also worked the CCC camps in Arkansas. He was a life long resident of Marion County where he farmed and loved raising cattle. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law of Yellville, R; his daughter and son-in-law of Yellville, AR; two sisters, one of Aurburn, WA and one of Yakima, WA; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice, and four brothers, Clyde, Talamadge, Dwight, and Athel. Visitation was held at the Burns Funeral Home in Yellville on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Services were held at the Yellville First Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 15 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Tim Cypert and Bro. Jack Gilliland officiating. Burial was in the Patton Cemetery I Pyatt, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the Patton Cemetery Fund. COLEMAN of Lead Hill, Arkansas were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home in Mountain Home with Rocky Hill officiating. Mrs. COLEMAN died Saturday, November 11, 2006, at Hospice House. Visitation was from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday November 13 at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home. Mrs. COLEMAN was 87. She was born October 4, 1919, at Blytheville, AR, to Hiram and Mary Ann WHITAKER HENSON. She married Henry Eugene COLEMAN on March 17, 1959, at Blytheville, AR. She was a homemaker. Mrs. COLEMAN lived in the Twin Lakes area all of her life. She was a member of the Baptist faith. She is survived by two sons, one of Blytheville, AR and one of Ripley, MS; two daughters, one of Union City, TN and one of Lead Hill, AR; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and special friend of Arkadelphia, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, two sisters, one daughter, three grandchildren, and friend Madie LOGAN. Burial was in Layton Cemetery. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of November 16, 2006 issue: Andrea Rochelle MCGAUGHEY, age 17, of Peel died Sunday, November the 12, 2006 at the North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, Arkansas. Andreas was born at Mountain Home, Arkansas on September 29, 1989. She was the daughter of Mrs. CAGLE and the late Marty WILLIAMS. Andrea was a senior at Yellville-Summit High school. She was a member of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions). Andrea loved playing basketball and going hunting and fishing. She was poud of the fact that she had her hunting and boating License. Andrea attended the Yellville First Presbyterian Church and the Peel Full Gospel Church. Survivors include her parents of of Peel, AR; a brother of Peel, AR; great-grandmother of Yellville, AR; grandparents of Yellville, AR, and of Russellville, AR; four uncles, one of Summit, AR, two of Russellville, AR, one of Plaquemine, LA; aunts, one of Angleton, TX, one of Yellville, AR, two of Summit, AR; one of Lead Hill, AR and one of Mission, KS; and several great uncles, aunts and many cousins, friends and relatives who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her father, Marty WILLIAMS, two uncles Riley MCGAUGHEY and Bobby Lee WILLIAMS. Visitation was held at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville on Wednesday, November 15 from 6-8 p.m. Services will be conducted at the Peel Full Gospel Church in Peel, Arkansas on Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. with Bro. Carroll Johnson, Rev. Marci Ward and Bro. Marlon Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Peel Cemetery in Peel, Arkansas. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of November 23, 2006 issue: Alvin HAMPTON, age 51, of Cotter, Arkansas died Sunday, November 19, 2006 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Mr. HAMPTON was born in Yellville, Arkansas on September 26, 1955, the son of Mrs. HAMPTON and the late Onual HAMPTON, he was employed by Guy King and Sons as an equipment operator. He was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of the North American Hunting Club. Some of the activities that he enjoyed included hunting, fishing and motorcycles. Survivors include his mother of Summit, AR; three sons, one of Ward, AR, one of North Little Rock AR and one of Lexington, KY; one stepson of Mountain Home, AR; one stepdaughter of Lonoke, KY; two brothers, one of Yellville, AR and one of Summit, AR; three sisters, one of Yellville, AR, one of Olive Hill, TN and one of Yellville, AR; and six grandchildren. His father, brother, Raymond, and sister LaVonne, preceded him in death. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of November 23, 2006 issue: Frances Elizabeth BROCKMAN, age 86, of Yellville, Arkansas passed away at the Marion County Nursing Home in Yellville on November 9, 2006. Funeral service was held November 16, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. at the Yellville Baptist Church. Mrs. BROCKMAN, a retired bookkeeper for ACME Brick Company in Texas, was an avid reader and loved to sew, knit, crochet and embroider. She volunteered for many years at her church's Clothes Closet. She was a resident of Yellville since 1982 when she and her husband moved there from Texas. Mrs. BROCKMAN is survived by one son and daughter-in-law of San Antonio, TX; daughter-in-law of Yellville, AR; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband, Robert A. BROCKMAN, and son, Thomas M. WYSE, preceded her in death. Memorials may be given to the Yellville Humane Society in "Fran's" memory. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of November 30, 2006 issue: Willie LYLES, age 82, of Yellville, Arkansas died Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at the Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Mr. LYLES was born in Quitman, Louisiana on November 20, 1924. He was the son of the later John Willie and Katie Mae ROBERTS LYLES. On March 11, 1960, he was married. Mr. LYLES was a retired banker and a member and deacon at the Yellville First Baptist Church. He and his wife had made Yellville their home for the past 26 years having moved here from Ruston, Louisiana. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army. Survivors include his wife of Yellville, AR; a son of Yellville, AR; a daughter of Russellville, AR; brothers, one of Ruston, LA and one of Bossier City, LA; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation was held at the Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas on Friday, November 24, 2006 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Serviced were conducted at the Yellville First Baptist Church on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Howard Kisor and Brother Bill Canary officiating. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of November 30, 2006 issue: Thomas Vernon ACKLIN, Sr., age 80, of Yellville, Arkansas died Friday, November 24, 2006 at the Marion County Nursing Home in Yellville, Arkansas. A son of the late Arthur and Dora ALEXANDER ACKLIN, he was born January 13, 1926 at Culp, Arkansas. He was a 23nd Degree Mason and a member of the Jerome Masonic Lodge No. 61 in Jerome, Idaho. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 32 years of Yellville, AR; sons, one of Pocatello, ID, three of Springdale, AR, one of Wichita, KS and one of Yellville, AR; daughters, one of Pocatello, ID and one of Springdale, AR; sisters, one of Gassville, AR, one of Mountain Home, AR and one of Thayer, MO; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of November 30, 2006 issue: Rowena Lee ANDERSON, age 69, of Osage City, Kansas died Friday, November 23, 2006 at the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas. She was born February 26, 1937 in Hutchinson, Kansas the daughter of Noel and Julia CLARK BISSEL. She graduated from Hays High School in 1956. After graduation she joined the United States Air Force and served from October 1956 until being honorably discharged in 1958. She lived in Japan for a few years after leaving the military. Rowena later lived in Iowa and settled in Nebraska in the early 1970s. She moved ot Osage City in May of 2005. Mrs. ANDERSON worked as a cook at Wilmat's Fireside Inn in McCook, Nebraska for 20 years. She joined in marriage to Roy ANDERSON on August 1, 1996 in Trenton, Nebraska. He preceded her in death in December of 1998 She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include two daughters, one of Lincoln, NE and one of Osage City, KS; sons, one of Lincoln, NE and one of McCook, NE; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2006 at the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Private inturment with military honors will be held at a later date at McCook, Nebraska. Arrangements are under the cirection of VanArsdale Funeral Home Chapel (785) 528-3164.
