Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of May 12, 2005 issue: Harry STUBBLEFIELD of Yellville, Arkansas died Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at the Marion County Nursing Home in Yellville, Arkansas. He was 80 years old. Mr. STUBBLEFIELD was born August 31, 1924 at Chicago, Illinois to Harry and Minnie HACKER STUBBLEFIELD. He was a carpenter. Mr. STUBBLEFIELD was a member of the U. S. Marines during WWII. He served in the Pacific Theater seeing action in the Titans, the Marshall Islands and Okinawa. Survivors include his sister; five nephews; and two nieces. His parents and sister, Florence FREEMAN, preceded him in death. No services are scheduled. Arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas (870) 449-6621.

Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of May 12, 2005 issue: William Earnest "Bill" BLYTHE of Yellville, Arkansas died May 5, 2005 at his residence in Yellville. He was 66 years old. Mr. BLYTHE was born February 20, 1939 at Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to Mark and Ina BENEDICT BLYTHE. He was married on January 17, 1986. He was a retired high school counselor. He was a member of the Yellville First Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. He was a member of the Mid-Marion County Rotary, served on the Citizen's Board of Baxter Regional Medical Center and a member of the South Shore Leadership committee. He was a U. S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife; one son; two daughters; two sisters; and seven grandchildren. His parents and brother, Russell BLYTHE, preceded him in death. A memorial service was held Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Yellville First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Marci Ward officiating. Burial followed in Visalia Cemetery in Visalia, California. No visitation was scheduled. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home, Arkansas (870) 449-6621.

Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of May 12, 2005 issue: Stuart BARAD a resident of Midland City, Alabama died Sunday afternoon, May 8, 2005 at Flowers Hospital. He was 64. Funeral services for Mr. BARAD were held Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 11 am at the Southern Heritage Funeral Home chapel with Rev. William Allen Blane officiating with full military honors. The family received friends from 10 until 10:45 am prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to: Leukemia Society, 100 Chase Park South, Birmingham, AL 35244. Mr. BARAD was born December 15, 1940 to Edward and Lillian BARAD. After graduation Mr. BARAD joined the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam, he retired after 22 years of service. Mr. BARAD moved to Maine and worked with Digital Equipment until his retirement in 1990. He then moved to Yellville, AR and lived there until he moved to Midland City in 1995. Mr. BARAD's hobbies included fixing and working on computers and was a master gardener. His parents preceded Mr. BARAD in death. Survivors include a daughter; two sons and a daughter-in-law; and one grandson.

Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of May 12, 2005 issue: John L. POPE of Summit, Arkansas died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at the John L. McClellan VA Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was 70 years old. Mr. POPE was born April 29, 1934 to William W. and Ethel MAXEY POPE. He was a retired fishing guide. He was a member of the Summit Pentecostal Church and the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include his two sons; one daughter; one half-brother; one sister; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Summit Baptist Church with Brother James Kelly officiating. Burial followed in Lee's Mountain Cemetery in Summit with pallbearers. No visitation was scheduled. Arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas (870) 449-6621.
