They had the following children: (1) William Henry born abt. 1862; (2) Thomas born about 1857.Caroline's children by BRAZIL were John, James, Charles, Elizabeth, and Valentine. Ambrose SPEARS, son of Robert and Lorrina SPEARS, was born abt. 1856 in Perry County Arkansas. He married Martha NABORS and by 1875 was living in Dallas County Texas. Following the death of Martha, he married a second time to an unknown wife. By 1880 he had moved to Yell County Arkansas where I lost track of him. He may have returned to Perry County. According to descendants he died between 1892 and 1903. His known children were: (1)Martha "Mattie" Elizabeth, born in Dallas County Texas December 26, 1875 and died in Shawnee, Oklahoma June 3, 1937. She was married three times. Her first husband was William ROBINSON. They were married in Perry County October 11, 1891. Her second husband was John William BUFORD who she married after 1900. He died abt. 1912. She is listed as an adopted daughter of the JAMES family. It is believed that this is the same Lela ROBINSON that was the daughter of Will and Martha ROBINSON and who later that year married John KENNEY. Looking for family records for George and Martha PERRY who lived in Perry County from 1879 through 1887. Their children who lived there were Charles B. PERRY, Sarah Perry CLARK, Ellen PERRY who married Thomas ANDERSON, Emmaline PERRY who married Walter BENNETT. John Henry PERRY was born there December 31, 1881: birthplace was listed as "Redemption." Midwives were Aorilla HARRIS and Loucinda SANDERS. Also seeking information on William Henry BROWN, Frank BROWN, Eli BROWN, Josie BROWN BAKER, my other grandparents. Their father was either Edmond or Edgar Lewis BROWN. Thomas GATES was married in Perry County. I have copy of his marriage to Mary SANDERS. He was Martha PERRY'S brother. There was a church with a graveyard where George PERRY was buried that may have been washed away in a flood. The name of the church was St. Matthew No. 1. There was also a Pleasant Hill Church there. School was held in the church house. The teachers were F. J. Milam, Charlotte Rhoden, Robert Riley, and Samuel Jones. Harry Miller was pastor of St. Matthew Church. Also would like to know if there was a Sevier or Levier Township in Perry County. This name appears on a pension application from George PERRY in August 1885. When Martha PERRY lived in Perry County, C. B. Riser was JP, James Vance was an NP. I have Pension records for Martha, Pension apps from George and family history showing that this family settled in Perry County and lived there before moving to Conway County but can find no other records.

My ggrandmother Loucretia Byrd IVEY WEAVER died in 1936, and her death certificate indicates that she was buried in the Childs Cemetery in Perryville. However, we cannot locate a Childs Cemetery. Does anyone know of it or if the name has been changed throughout the years? Her parents were Andrew and Mary Parker BYRD. She may have been buried with her first husband George Washington IVEY as what records we have show he was buried around Morrilton in 1900. Their daughter, Georgia, married my grandfather John Bliss COMPTON, and my father, Calvin SMURR was born in Perryville in 1902. Thank you for your help

ATKINS, BOSTICK, COATS, GRISHAM, PERTEET, POTEETE, PUTTEETT, RAINEY posted by Melanie Atkins on Friday, March 26, 1999

Would like to hear from L. Reeves who posted a query to Franklin Co., TN, in 1997, regarding Larkin POTEETE family. I have an old newspaper article regarding the POTEETE/BOSTICK family reunion held in Toad Suck Park in Conway in September 1985. My husband, Rodger D. ATKINS, is the great grandson of Larkin POTEETE and his second wife, Telitha Coats POTEETE. Larkin is listed as PERTEET on the 1850 Perry Co. census, living with his first wife Anna and children, Sarah A., Margaret M., Mary E., and James R. He was listed on the 1860 census with second wife Telitha Coats POTEETE and they had one daughter, Martha Melvina POTEETE born 6/22/1859. On the 1870 census, Larkin had disappeared during the 1860s and Telitha POTEETE was living with her daughter and son-in-law, a BOSTICK. The article about the reunion gives info on the migration of the Larkin POTEETE (spelled PUTTEETT in 1840-45)and Alfred BOSTICK families by wagon train from Tennessee to Casa, Perry Co. Family history indicates that Larkin POTEETE disappeared between 1860 and 1870, and was believed to have been killed by bushwhackers. One source says there is a record of him being hospitalized in Little Rock during the Civil War. Would like to contact anyone in Perry County who has information on this family. The article indicated that descendants Estelle RAINEY and Letta GRISHAM were still living on some of Larkin POTEETE'S land in 1985.
